Extending the Unit
For the first 2-3 weeks of the unit, you will learn the concepts  and master the State Science Standards for the unit and assist as a peer tutor when necessary. During the last week of the unit you will work independently on the problem given as the Culminating task for the Unit.
You are a students who have been identified as Gifted and Talented by the standards used to assess students for LAUSD. You will therefore have a different format for the Unit plan as well as a Culminating task that is more suited for your cognitive level.
Culminating Task for Gifted and Talented

To show mastery of the Science Content Standards for this unit while taking into consideration your status as a Gifted and Talented student, you must answer the following prompt using different forms of multi media presentations (power point or website). Extended Culminating Task
Charles Darwin explains that the mechanism for evolution is through a process called natural selection. You must pretend that you are Charles Darwin and want to defend your views on natural selection to present day people who are skeptical about the concepts of evolution and natural selection. You must examine your own observations from the past as well as develop a justification that would support your views with evidence from the present.
