Rethinking KA's identity
With the recent departure (albeit only temporary loaning) of another couple of KA players to leagues in Europe and the MLS in the US, the Alternative are currently facing a shortage of players for recent matches, resulting in the need for foreign imports.

While the use of foreign imports has proved fruitful, it does bring up the question of whether it is diluting the KAKAs' identity and breaking with the tradition of recruiting players from within.

The lack of a common bond or
shared values will no doubt raise questions over team spirit and the morale of the club's players, and with the recent good performances of foreign imports, there will be added pressure to play them in place of the current remaining players.

In the past, the seasonal return of KAKA players on loan have raised spirits, but recent performances seem to suggest that these loan periods do not necessarily benefit the club as much as was initially imagined. This has been reflected in some disappointing results of late, and an inability of the returning KAKAs to acclimatise to the humid local conditions.

In addition, the Alternatives' almost standard ritual of hanging around after matches have ended (often at least until one half of the next game has ended) is also not as lively as it used to be, as many of the Gardenias have chosen or decided to plan their own programs and attend to more personal affairs. Post-match dinners are now attended by just a small proportion of the team and there has also been a clear reduction in the discussion and sharing of opinions on tactics, team performance, and anything under the sky.

The togetherness that saw the players come together initially to form the team has somewhat eroded, and it can only be hope that the KAKA players' love of the game will keep the club going on to achieve greater heights.
