A grand prix is an organised competition between each of the Australian States, resulting in an end of session awarding of points. Referees are selected by the competition organiser. Dates of interstate grand prix unknown at this stage.
An Australian men's training camp was held in Brisbane over 03--05 April 2009. They are planning for Spanish and Lithuanian competitions.
Confirmation date (note: September, not June): The Australian Goalball National Championships will be held in Melbourne, Victoria from Saturday 19 -- Monday 21 September 2009 (start of the mid-year school holidays). The playing venue to be confirmed. Number of men's and women's teams unknown at this stage. Five or more referees are needed.
Results of the games will usually be displayed on the Goalball Australia site. Two weeks later will be the NZ Nationals.
It is proposed the 2010 Nationals will be held in Brisbane on the usual Queen's Birthday weekend in June 2010.
The New Zealand Nationals has been moved forward from the usual Labour Weekend (about third weekend of October). It will now be held on Friday 02 to Monday 05 October 2009. The venue in Auckland is unknown at this stage. At least four referees are usually needed.
For those with time and a bit of finances, the World Goalball Championships will be held in Sheffield, England, 18--25 June 2010. This will be at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) Sheffield, in the Don Valley. More information is available on their www.???.com site.
An Australian referees course has yet to be written (give me some time, I still have to do my tax!).
After the October 2008 NZ Nats, confirmation has yet to be made that Helen, Katie, and Warrick are IBSA Level 2 referees for 2009. This does mean they can train others to be IBSA Level 1s.
