Review (by Toobs)
There is no shortage of world war two themed first person shooters available
and its no secret that a number of them, including Medal Of Honour series
and Battlefield 1942 are extremely good. Now you can add COD to your list
because this game is far by, a masterpiece of a game and simply better in
ways than others. Single Player and Multiplayer modes will be familiar with
the other games like COD, but here is where the game is more authentic and
well designed. Single player missions and Multiplayer are fast paced
entertainment.

COD has four difficult settings, but theyre not frustrating. If you die,
you can restart at your most recent save almost instantly, you also have the
option of quick save where ever you may wish. The training on single player
is second nature to experienced players of first person shooters, but
rookies get to have a well-structured tutorial by a General. In the
tutorial, it does stand out how much you need to take cover, just running
in, with bullets firing everywhere is fun but not a real feel to gameplay,
COD gives you many spots to take cover by crouching or crawling down on all
floorings. Sandbags and trenches are possible to take cover by too, a number
of places to sniper to with the good old pal, Springfield.
One option that every game needs to make it more fun, realistic and harder
to kill is leaning around corners. This is one of the best features on any
first person shooter, COD gives this option and a tip is to use it a lot.
Weapons have a wide range between American, British, Russian and German
world war two arsenal, including various rifles, submachine guns, side arms
and grenades. You can only carry two larger weapons at a time, you can also
carry a pistol and grenades at all times.

Multiplayer, a new feature on this game, and anyone would love it. Imagine
your on a LAN or internet game its a deathmatch, your waiting patiently for
the clear, near a bridge, your pretty sure its clear and you run fast as you
can to get to the other side, but then BANG, a sniper, fired one round at
your head and you didnt have a clue where the shot was from. Were going
back in time, six seconds ago, and on your screen there is a German, in a
guard tower near the back entrance, aiming down at the bridge patiently and
then he sees you when you thought it was all clear, he aims to his enemys
head and waits until he is sure for a clear shot, then he fires, your body
flys to the ground. You now where he is, go get him.
The features that are in multiplayer are deathmatch Team Deathmatch
Behind Enemy Lines Retrieval Search And Destroy. All with a selection of
maps that are including as missions in single player mode.
Back to single player game, you play the campaign as American, British and
Russian. You play a number of exciting missions from the eyes of each allied
force. Each one takes a different place in Europe, with many famous places
and structures in the levels. The game would take an average gamer ten hours
to complete.
You may be the player of this game, but you certainly are not a hero,
because you do not fight alone, you fight and have victory with others.
Fighting alongside with your men, helping and looking out for one another.
Every campaign you fight with privates and sergeants and corporals, everyman
man is just a man looking for victory, all wanting to go home but you are
nothing special, your one of them, your are a soldier. You will see men get
gunned down and blown up but dont hesitate, keep on running. Your never
fight alone and always have allied soldiers fighting, dying by your side.
But one thing they cant do is, they cant do your job for you. They will
help you achieve your objective and kill the enemy but to have victory is
dependent on you.
The most remarkable and realistic missions are the Russians, if you have
ever watched the film Enemy At The Gates and after watching, you probably
fancied doing what Jude Law (The Russian Sniper) did. Then the first level
of the Russians is the beginning sequence of the film, this is what
happens.
Youre on a boat, moving towards the docks, men shivering, throwing up and
crying, begging for their mercy. The fat Russian sergeant shouting a copied
written speech, explaining that you are fighting for the motherland, and for
every Russkie they kill, you will kill ten of the Germans. Also getting the
friendly point across that if you turn around and run back, you will be shot
by your own Officers. So youre at the docks, and you get out of the boat,
queuing in the line, waiting to receive a rifle and ammo, mortar rounds
blowing up everywhere and bullets pouring down like rain, you get there and
youre only given ammo of five bullets. Great, just great, so the Germans
are shooting thousands of rounds down at your direction and theres cover
but its just getting there, your men dying in front of you, you come across
a Russian sniper and you help him, hell help you. There you continue to
take over the train station, but with a hard battle ahead.
My overview of this game is: Most anyone who plays games would more than
likely be very impressed with Call Of Duty authentic presentation, well
designed and often intense single-player missions and fast paced,
entertaining multiplayer modes.
Its far by one of the greatest World War, first person shooters ever made.
