Welcome to Mid lans 24/06/04

Welcome to Mid Lans , hopefully the new home for all Irish PC Gamers in the midlands. This site is currently under construction and will be fully operational in about 2 to 3 weeks. We will be adding content on a daily basis so please check back to see our progress. In the meantime I would like to take this moment to explain a bit about Mid Lans (i.e. how we are and what we do) I have always been an avid pc gamer particularly the mulitplayer aspect of pc games. Unfortunately in Ireland the advent of broadband internet connections is only now coming on stream. As a result it meant that I found I was rather limited in my choice of games.

The solution to this problem presented itself in my first year of college in the AIT in Athlone. A fellow gamer, computer enthusiast and founder of Mid Lans (pyrogenx) began to organize small lans that gradually grew in size. For the past year and a half he organized no less than 10 lans attracting about a dozen players each time, also several smaller Lans that shall be mentioned here. Yet we realized we could do better. So it was decided during the summer break to make a determined push to attract more players from the wider region. Hence this website was born.

So how do we intend to attract more players? Firstly this site was established to advertise lans well in advance and also to clearly define the games to be played, lan activities and rules. Secondly the inclusion of prizes for each lan tournament. All thought yet undecided these may include Flash Drives, Sound Cards, Headsets or MP3 players. The type of prize will be determined by the number of lan attendees, which usually turns out good.

Apart from gaming, the Mid Lans founders are also keenly interested in many aspects of computers such as hardware and modding. The founders of Mid Lans en-visioned this site not only as a site for the organisation of LANS in the midland region but also as a hub for all computer fans in the midlands. Thats why we would encourage readers to register on our forum (which should be up and running in a few weeks) and bring to our attention any hardware they would like to review or mods they are undertaking. We love hearing from like minded individuals so feel free to submit your ideas, reviews and comments.

Thats all for now.
There is alot more to come so please check back soon.
