I've been reading true crime since I was 13 and picked up a paperback copy of "Helter Skelter". From that moment on, I couldn't get enough. I live with the strange looks from librarians and booksellers (thank God Amazon.com and half.com came along :D ). I don't think that most people who read about true crime cases are any stranger than anyone else, I believe that what most of us have in common is an insatiable curiosity about human nature and what movitates the criminal mind. Some people like reading about serial killers, my preference is to read about those people (often women) who murder those close to them - spouses, children, parents, siblings ... what motivates a human being to slay those they should love the most?
Just FYI - I am not a crime "groupie", I do not correspond with anyone who is incarcerated, I do not think that people who commit crimes are heroes or role models. Quite the opposite. Just wanted to make that clear. :}
