SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the summary of the whole study, the researchers’ findings, and the conclusions that were based from the results and findings in the experiment and the recommendations, which the researchers would like to address to future researchers.

SUMMARY

The study aimed to determine the death-causing diseases based on the hospital cases in General Santos City in year 2004.

Specifically, it answered the following questions:

1.      What are the leading-death causing diseases in General Santos City in the year 2004?

2.      Who are the affected individuals in terms of their:

2.1. Age

2.2.  Gender

3.      Which of the death-causing diseases has the highest mortality rate based on the hospital cases recorded in the year 2004?

 FINDINGS

After analyses and interpretation of data gathered, as shown in Table 7 in page 27, the leading death-causing disease in General Santos City is Pneumonia, with the highest mortality rate of 11.1 %, majority of cases occurring within the age range of 65 years old and above. It is followed by Hypertension with a mortality rate of 4.4 % falling under the age range of 45 years old above. Lastly Neonatal Sepsis with 3.3 % mortality rate with its age range below one year old. Table 7 also shows the profiles of the affected individuals and is ranked according to age range and gender.

CONCLUSIONS

After the research was conducted, it was found out that:

1.      The leading cause of death in General Santos City in the year 2004 is Pneumonia with 114 death cases, followed by Hypertension with 45 death cases and lastly, Neonatal Sepsis with 31 death cases.

2.      The majority of the death cases in Pneumonia and Hypertension belong to the age range of 65 years old and above and the age range of 45 years old and respectively. While neonatal sepsis in the first year of birth.

RECOMMENDATIONS

1.      Data gathering procedure should be thorough and accurate.

2.      Clinics and other health agencies should be considered and included in future studies to have a more precise measurement.

3.      The local government under the Department of Health should conduct a campaign regarding the prevention of pneumonia, hypertension, and neonatal sepsis which is the top three leading death-causing diseases in General Santos City.
