| PWP Baltimore Chapter 001 Our Mission |
Parents Without Partners, (PWP) Inc , Baltimore Chapter 001, is a non-profit, non-sectarian educational organization composed of 270 members of all ages, races, and cultural backgrounds. We strive to offer our members resources that enrich their experiences as single parents - whether it be through positive interactions with other adults, spending more quality time with our children, or providing programs to educate us to be better parents.
Our organization originated in 1957 by two single parents in New York who were concerned with the challenges faced by single parents in raising their children. Today, PWP has grown to become an international organization consisting of approximately 38,000 members in approximately 400 PWP chapters located worldwide in the US, Canada, and Australia. Except for a small contingent of paid staff located at the PWP International headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida, all activities are conducted by our members, who volunteer their time and resources to the individual chapters.
The chapter leadership is comprised of a Board of Directors, who are elected to serve for one year terms to various posts. The Board , along with a host of volunteers in various operating committees, plans and organizes those activities that are relevant to the chapter's membership. PWP Baltimore Chapter 001 is governed by a set of Standing Rules (by-laws), and by rules established to the local chapters through PWP International. Inc.
