A Review of The Squeeze This was a loveable yet crazy thing to review so let me sort my thoughts out before we continue�.There, ok. Purple Grip is a band from Ithaca, NY. They're basically college boys who go to Cornell, so you know they're smart, and they tend to keep their sound on a bit of a random note. It's mostly of a pop punk nature but you'll find some political tweaking here and there and the vocals kind of reminded me of The Piss Shivers. There are technically five songs on here but then a shitload of "hidden" stuff pops up at the end. I believe it's some live stuff and a Car's cover, but I just didn't understand why it all wasn't included in the "official" track listing. The material is pretty tight, semi-catchy, and slightly rock-n-roll influenced, which in my book makes for a great listen. The band is fairly new, having formed in 2000, so there is relatively little info out there on them. This demo EP should provide a growing fan base in the future if they don't actually use their education for anything From Issue #12 of Poppunk.com |
