Here are some books that I think fans of Tamora Pierce or fantasy books in general would enjoy, if you have any books to recommend feel free to send me a summary of the book and if possible a picture of the cover and I'll post it here.
Dragon Prince - By Melanie Rawn From the official website: melanierawn.com When Rohan became the new prince of the Desert, ruler of the kingdom granted his family for as long as the Long Sands spewed fire, he took the crown with two goals in mind. First and foremost, he sought to bring permanent peace to his world of divided princedoms, realms hovering always on the brink of war. And, in a land where dragon-slaying was a proof of manhood, Rohan was the sole champion of the dragons, fighting desperately to preserve the last remaining lords of the sky and with them a secret which might be the salvation of his people . . .
Sioned, who was fated by Fire to be Rohan's bride, had mastered the magic of sunlight and moonglow, catching hints of a yet to be formed pattern which could irrevocably affect the destinies of Sunrunners and ordinary mortals alike. Yet caught in the machinations of the Lady of Goddess Keep, and of Prince Rohan and his sword enemy, the treacherously cunning High Prince, could Sioned alter this crucial pattern to protect her lord from the menace of a war that threatened to set the land ablaze?
Why I like this book This, in my opinion, is one of the best examples of what fantasy should be. This book is the first in the series Dragon Prince and has everything romance, intrigue, magic, war. I can not say enough about this book. Granted the first 50 pages are kind of hard to get into but after that it is well worth it. The characters seem so real and they are so human it's easy to imagine that the characters really exhist. This is a wonderful story about power and it's ability to corrupt, love, politics, magic, this book is more than worth $7.99 so I recommend buying it or checking it out of the library.
Ruins of Ambrai - By Melanie Rawn From the official website: melanierawn.com A thousand years ago, Mageborns fled prejudice and persecution to colonize the planet Lenfell -- pristine, untouched, a perfect refuge for those whose powers were percieved as a threat by people not gifted with magic. But the greater the magic, the greater the peril -- and Lenfell was soon devastated by a war between rival Mageborn factions that polluted the land, sea, and air with Wild Magic, and unleased the hideous specters known as the Wraithenbeasts.
Generations after that terrible war, with the land recovered from crippling wounds and the people no longer threatened by genetic damage, Mageborns still practice their craft -- but under strict constraints. Yet so long as the rivalry between the Mage Guardians and the Lords of Malerris continues, the threat of another war is ever-present. And someone has been planning such a war for many long years, the final strike in a generations-old bid for total power...
Why I like this book This book revolves around three sisters, Glenis, a mage and the eldest sister, craves power and the position she believes is her rightful place, Sarra is caught in the war between the two groups of Mages but decides to do anything to be reunited with the younger sister she never knew, Cailet, who is the Mage Guardian's last hope must discover her power and defeat the Malerris. Ruins of Ambrai, which is the first book in a trilogy, has wonderful characters that make mistakes, have flaws and don't always do the right thing. This is less of a fight between good and evil but to factions of mages who believe that they are right, this makes it real, and unique to other books. Romance, battles, magic, conspiracies, what more could you ask for?
The Wayfarer Redemption - By Sarra Douglass From the Publisher: For a thousand years, the Acharites have lived prosperous lives, protected by vast and insurmountable mountains and the powerful Seneschal, guardians of the mysterious Way of the Plow and intermediaries with the great god Artor.
But now Achar's security is threatened as a millennia-old prophecy predicting the return of the Forbidden Ones flares into life. An unnatural winter grips the land as the Ice Lord Gorgrael moves his armies of demonic wraiths and IceWorms south. Achar crumbles under Gorgrael's murderous onslaught: it seems that no one can stop him.
Faraday, betrothed of Achar's War Lord, Duke Borneheld, is as frightened as everyone else. While fleeing to safety with Axis, legendary leader of the Axe-Wielders and hated half-brother of Borneheld, Faraday learns all that she has been taught about her people's history has been based on lies. Leaving the company of Axisa man she secretly loves, although it would mean his death to reveal itFaraday embarks on a journey that will forever change both her life and those of her people.
Why I like this book This book is again a wonderful story, it's a battle between good and evil, full of suspense, surprises, and unexpected outcomes.
