Basil
Magical = Basil is used as protectection against evil and negative energies and aids in attracting and keeping love in your life. Basil can be used in purification baths and in spells intended for prosperity and wealth. Carrying a Basil leaf in your pocket is said to bring wealth to the wearer. Crushed Basil sprinkled over your mate while they are sleeping is supposed to eliminate infidelity.
Medicinal = Basil is used to treat stomach cramps, vomiting, fevers, colds, flu, headaches,whooping cough and menstrual pain. It can also be used in herbal remedies to reduce stomach acids. Externally it can be used to treat insect bites and draw ourt poisons. Basil can eliminate worms from the intestines. Oil from Basil leaves can be applied directly to the skin to treat acne.
Bayberry
Magical = The oil of a Bayberry plant will bring prosperity and luck.
Medicinal = Taken in small doses Bayberry is said to increase your vitality and give a boost to you entire body system by improving the circulation. Bayberry can also be used a poultice over vericose veins to strengthen the blood vessels. A douche made of Bayberry tea is used to treat vaginal infections and the tea itself is used as a gargle for sore throats and tonsillitis.
Bay Laurel
Magical = The leaves are burned in incense to enhance psychic powers and to produce psychic visions. Worn as an amulet it will provide protection from evil and negativity. The leaves are also used as decoration during the yule season and if its placed in your window it will protect the house against lightning. You can write a wish on a Bay leaf and then burn the leaf if you want your wish to come true. Sprinkle crushed Bay leaves in your cabinets to keep our coachroaces and other insects.
Bergamont
Magical = Bergamont is used in spells intended to attract money and success.
Medicinal = Also known as Oswego tea and Bee Balm, Bergamont is used to treat nausea and vomiting and symptoms of colds and flu. The essential oil is used to treat acne, coughs, fevers, tension, stress and depression.
Bistort
Magical = An amulet fashioned out of the root is carried when one wishes to concieve. Sprinkle an infusion of Bistort around your home to keep out unwanted visitors.
Medicinal = Bistort root can be ground with Echimacea, Myrrh and Goldenseal and used for dressing cuts and other wounds. Bistort is good to drive out infections disease.
Blackberry
Magical = The leaves and berries of a Blackberry bush can be used in spells intended for to bring money.
Medicinal = A syrup made from the Blackberry root is used to treat diarrhea and upset stomach and is safe to use in children with these symptoms. An infusion of the leaves is also used to treat sore throats and diarrhea.
Black Cohosh
Magical = Black Cohosh leaves laid around the room will drive away bugs and negativity.
Medicinal = Used to treat symptoms of arthritis. It improves blood cirulation and is used in treating delayed and painfull mestruation. It can be used with other herbs to in treating menopausal symptoms.
***Warning = Black Cohosh should not be used during pregnancy and can be poisoness if taken in large doses. It contains a chemical that resembles estrogen so those advised by their doctors not to take the pill should avoid using this herb.
Blessed Thistle
Medicinal = Blessed Thistle is used to strenghten the heart and to strengthen the memory. It is used in remedies for treating menopause and menstrual cramping. Blessed Thistle is often used by lactating women to stimulate blood flow to the mammary glands and increase the flow of milk.
Blue Cohosh
Medicinal = Can be used to regulate menstraul flow and to stimulate suppressd mestruation. Native Americans used this herb during childbirth to ease the pain of delivery.
***Warnig = This herb should not be taken during pregnancy and should only be taken in very small amounts when being used in conjunction with other herbs such as Black Cohosh.
Boneset
Magical = An infusion of Boneset sprinkled around the house will drive away evil spirits and negativity.
Medicinal = Used for treating severe fevers. It is often used as a tincture in sweat therapy.
Borage
Magical = Carrying fresh blossoms will bring you courage. A tea made of this herb will induce your psychic powers.
Medicinal = Used for treating bronchitis and rashes. Borage can also be used to increase the flow of mothers milk. An infusion of this herb can be used as an eyewash.
Burdock
Magical = Used to ward off negativity and often used in amulets and sachets.
Medicinal = Burdock root is used to treat fevers, boils, imflamation, hepatitis and swollen glands. Helps clear up persistant acne. Used with Dandelion root it is an effective cleanser for the liver.
