PONTIAC ENGINE BLOCK CODES PONTIAC CYLINDER HEAD CODES
Pontiac engine assembly line circa 1968:
Rows of YS-code 400ci engines!
Two views of my 1970 Pontiac Ram-Air III !
The block has
4-bolt mains & steel crankshaft. The connecting rods have been shot-peened, magnafluxed, & has ARP rod bolts. The cylinder heads are fully race ported & have 2.11" intake / 1.77" exhaust valves. The intake manifold is an Offenhauser 2x4-bbl tunnel ram & is somewhat rare. Two Carter 500cfm vacuum-secondary 4-barrels top the machine.
LEFT: Harland Sharpe aluminum full roller rocker-arms & Crane valve springs.
RIGHT: Each Carter 4-bbl has a NOS Dual Cheater injector plate under it. On top they have K&N velocity stacks. I don't even try to hide the AFTERBURNERS on this engine. It produces 789hp @ 6600 RPM / 1200 ft/lbs of torque in full burner. It will put a 68' GTO down the 1320' in around 10.7 seconds. THE PROBLEM: I have an M21 Muncie 4-spd manual & according to my computer projections a 6-pad metallic clutch & 3200 lb press. plate will last TWO passes.

OFFENHAUSER 2x4-bbl intake manifold:
I just bought it for $100 ! It is the only way to put a supercharger on a Pontiac engine.
