Pictures of the barn and workshop Hurricane Ivan
These pics were taken shortly after the major part of the winds have diminished, 16, September 04
A few shots of my workshop/rear carport, half the carport roof is off and the roof structure is out of shape.  Again only lost about a handful of shingles but it's funny the way winds will leave things as you can see in the last picture the is just folded.  It also broke my powerline pole to my shop.
More shingles that are missing, mangled roofing sheet and sagging roof structure.  Last picture, you can see where the cars were parked since Ivan decided to open things up a bit.  Ripped one door fully off the hindges, the other door was driven into the ground about 4 inches.
Although you can't see the damage, you can see how the fender was damaged by the doors blowing in on the NX.  Also the amount of roofing I lost over the barn.
More pictures of the missing or severely damaged roof over the barn.  Even some of the boards they were nailed to are gone.
Better shots of the boards that are missing from the roofing structure.  You also see the latches, or the lack thereof on the doors, almost all the latches were ripped off the doors.
Roof skylights?  Rear entry maybe?  All possible from a storm like this.  Tree limbs falling and puncturing the roof.  Part of the back wall is blown out too.  In the third picture, one of the roofing sheets, which is just offscreen to the right, put a gash in the oak tree almost 2 inches deep.
The power of wind has the power to break.  A new roof joist of what seems to be an arcade game sign since the original joist failed to hold after the support pole was knocked out from under it.  Debris all over the floor, most of that use to be on the table to the right, including the headlights from the Pulsar (already picked up).
Clean-up time
Debris clean-up starts with the cleaning up of the roofing all over the yard, then on to the trees.  Most of the barn and rear carport roof sheet I had to retrieve from the neighbour behind me and from the neighbour to the right of me.  Tree work being done to clear off the now flattened coop.  I'm in the khaki shorts, my twin brother in the red shorts, little brother in the blue shorts and my dad in the blue shirt.
My dad and I with part of my barn roof pulled from the neighbour to the right.  The piles of metal from my barn and carports.  Last picture, the remaining stump from my pecan tree that fell just to the left of the barn.
Side shot of the barn after tree removed, winds cleared it out so much, I can see the house behind me where you couldn't do so before.
The big wood pile I now have just from the trees in my yard, I won't be cold this winter.

Summary for this page.  Both the workshop/carport and the barn are not insured under my insurance, repair costs will have to be out of my pocket.  Workshop/carport sustained mainly roof damage, plans are to repair frame, plywood and shingle the roof instead of metal sheets.  Also plan to close in the carport and make a garage.  For the barn, obviously there is alot of damage done to it.  A new roof will be needed including a new joist and support post.  Back wall will be fixed as well as all the doors and frames.  Things could have been alot worse for the barn if that pecan tree fell abit more to the right, it would have caved in the front wall and unfortunately crushed the cars.  I am extremely happy it didn't come to that.  Total damage estimate is still unknown but I'm sure it isn't cheap.  All in all, things will get back together over time, things back to normal and life will go on.  I'm just glad my family, friends and I all lived through it unhurt and hope I won't have to deal with another catagory 4 hurricane for many years to come.
