Pictures of my house and property after Hurricane Ivan
These pics were taken shortly after the major part of the winds have diminished, 16, September 04
Coming down my street, the left side of the property is what you see first. Barn in the background behind a few fallen trees. Then on to the house with one of my two carport covers missing. As you view more to the right another fallen tree and some minor flooding. Cedar tree is leaning toward the house with branches all over the house.
Viewing down the left side of the house, you can see parts of the carport cover and my gates blown open. Back view of the house, you can see how much that cedar tree is actually leaning.
Part of the cedar tree on the back side of house, neighbouring tree fallen over fence, it actually damaged my power box. More of the cedar tree, how much of it is on the house and what it has done to my roof.
Close-up of the roof damage. Power line was rapped up in the tree and the cable line was torn from the house. You can see what happened to the power box when the tree fell on it. Also, you can see the standing water in the yard, it was there for about a week.
More pictures of the damaged power pole. Even with the hole there, suprizingly no water got in that room. Last picture is the roof over the back porch.
Only lost about a handful of shingles, I thought there would have been more missing. Second picture, back at the carport, looking at carport parts and three fallen trees. Third picture, carport parts all the way at the back fence. The pecan tree you see there is leaning, not as much as the cedar though. Last picture, fig trees and banana trees.
Another view of the fig and banana trees, they were trashed. Other pictures, an old chicken coop that didn't make it thought the storm........neither did the pecan tree.
I had all my cars parked in the barn, the only damage done to the cars were the headlights on the Pulsar and damage done to the fender of the NX. Headlights were on a worktable and were blown off when the roof was torn off the barn. The fender was beat up a little bit after the doors of the barn blew in. Barn pictures are on the next page.
From what you have seen so far, let me just sum up. I had 7 trees come down in the storm and 2 trees are leaning, one of those on the house. Aside from the carport, the only other damage to the house was the power box, screens on the back porch and the roof. Even though I only lost a few shingles, insurance is having the roof replaced due to the damage that was done to the inside of the house. Ceiling damage done to my bedroom, the livingroom and the TV room. Some of my fence was damaged as well. You saw what the pecan tree did to one part. I had another tree knock down part of the back fence, some wooden posts are broken, other parts are just out of shape.
