Detroit Burns at the Hands of Hoodlems

[09.10.02] The Benton Harbor Hoodlems's losing streak is over as they capture their first victory in franchise history as they beat the Detroit Drive 114-95. Benton Harbor, who joined the league last year, lost every game last year giving them a fourteen game losing streak heading into this season, the longest in PWFFL history. Detroit put up a strong showing scoring the most points out of all expansion teams this year, setting a PWFFL record for most points scored for an expansion team's first game.

In other games this week, Wisconsin had a dominating week outscoring expansion England 137-49. Timbuktu was able to show W. Palm Beach how to count, as the Buccaneers won 95-74. Seattle continued their winning ways by razing Baltimore 104-71. In a nailbiter that went down to the last second of the monday night game, the Rocko Bengals squeeked out a victory over Green Bay 68-66. In Game of the Week, Kalamazoo got a bit of help from the Monday night refs when they took away a Jerome Bettis touchdown. With that help, the Vikings were able to nab a victory away from Rhode Island.

Birds and the Bees

[09.17.02] When your parents sat you down and gave you the talk about the birds and the bees, do you remember the part where the birds eat the bees? That is just what happened in the first ever matchup between Baltimore and Wisconsin. The expansion Bluejays shocked the league when they upsetted the heavily favored Wannabes in the second week of the season 83-73. What made this even more shocking was that Baltimore did it with very poor coaching as they benched Peerless Price who would have netted the Bluejays 32 more points.

Baltimore wasn't the only expansion team to win their first game this week as W. Palm Beach entered into the win column with a win over Green Bay 76-71. England was not so lucky, but they did score 86 points in a ten point loss to Timbuktu. Rocko, they youngest owner in the league, ended Benton Harbor's party to move to 2-0. In the most lopsided game of the week, Rhode Island blew out Detroit 92-37 when the Drive woke up from their dream and found out they were in fact an expansion team. In the Game of the Week, Seattle man-handled Kalamazoo to take over first place early into the season. Will anyone step up this season and stop the Seattle juggernaut?

Stung By a Bee

[09.24.02]All the smack talk in the world won't win you the game. Vikings' owner Puck, spent most of the week talking up his team, then it came right back in his face with the lowest score in franchise history. Wisconsin rebounded from their poor performance last week to score a 107-70 victory over the Kalamazoo Vikings. Talk around the league is that the Vikings are washed up and living off past successes. Kalamazoo hopes that this is just the normal slow start their team suffers every year on their way to the playoffs and Puck Bowl.

In other games of Week 3, Seattle rides their seven game regular season winning streak beating Rhode Island 114-85. The Slugs hope that Faulk's injured neck isn't serious as it would leave Seattle thin at running back with Curtis Martin's struggles as of late. W. Palm Beach jumps up into fifth place with their victory over a Benton Harbor team that forgot about NFL bye weeks. Rocko and Timbuktu are the toast of the town as they both win this week to keep pace with Seattle at 3-0 with victories over Detroit and Baltimore. Also, Green Bay finally gets their first win over England in the battle of beatens 105-64.

Record Breakers

[10.01.02] This was a week for the history books as three individual records were broken. The Quarterback position week high score was broken by Trent Green of Benton Harbor. Green, just hired off the streets after being cut by Seattle earlier this year, started for the quarterbackless Hoodlems and lead them in a win over a strong England team 123-96. The other two records were broken by members of the Kalamazoo Vikings in a huge victory over the then undefeated Timbuktu Buccaneers. In that game, Tony Gonzalez broke the two year old tight end record and Shaun Alexander blasted past the runningback record previously co-held by Marshall Faulk and Mike Anderson.

In other games this week, Rocko defeated the surprising expansion team W. Palm Beach. The Bengals overcame being five points behind the Chads going into Monday's game with a huge game by tight end Todd Heap. Seattle overcame a big game out of Detroit's Bledsoe to win 114-88 to stay on top of the standings and undefeated. Also, Green Bay took care of Baltimore 104-58. In the game of week, Wisconsin and Rhode Island ended their game at a standstill in dramatic fashion. Elam missed a field goal at the end of the game that would have pushed the Wannabes to victory. On the other side, Rhode Island seemed to have been robbed by the refs again, as another Bettis touchdown was reversed on a very questionable call.

"Punch" of Salt to the Slugs

[10.08.02] The Champion's winning streak is finally over. In the Game of the Week, Wisconsin beat the slim out of the Seattle Slimy Slugs. It was close going into Monday's game, with Seattle still holding onto a slim lead but Wisconsin's big guns were yet to come. Farve and Booker lit it up to score a combined fifty points to make the final score 142-102. This finally dropped Seattle from their top perch and allowed Rocko to take full control over first place.

Speaking of the Rocko, the amazing Bengals are red, or should I say orange, hot. They were able to hold off a strong England team that gave them a run for their money. Rhode Island still hasn't figured out the Timbuktu team that gives them trouble year after year. The Buccaneers were able to top the Ridicule 114-84. Also, Kalamazoo squeeked out a tight one against Green Bay 94-88. Benton Harbor may have gotten the hang of this fantasy football thing. The Hoodlems are already half way to there point total of last year and scored 109 points this week in a win over Baltimore. Big news for all those Detroit Drive fans out there. The Drive was able to secure their first win in their history when they played fellow expansion team W. Palm Beach.

Player of the Week: Rich Gannon (QB-Tim)
Coach of the Week: Wisconsin

Bengals Poached

[10.15.02] The longest streaks were ended in Week 6. In what most think is a shock, the undefeated Rocko Bengals are no more. Even Rocko's best effort fell short to a Baltimore team that was firing on all cylindars. The Bluejays had a big game out of Jamal Lewis and Peerless Price in their 117-90 victory.

One team that really benifited from Rocko's loss was Seattle. Seattle lucked out when they had a poor showing by Slug standards when they beat Timbuktu. The Buccaneers have been relying on Gannon to carry their team these past weeks and he forgot to show up this week giving Timbuktu their lowest score of the year. Another team thankful for the Rocko and Timbutku loss is the Wisconsin Wannabes. Wisconsin squeeked out a very close game against a "super strong" Detroit team 106-102. Benton Harbor almost shocked the league again when they came very close to beating Kalamazoo but fell short by six points. Green Bay's coach single handedly lost there game against Rhode Island this week. The Fudgepacker's bungling by leaving a WR and a RB that were both on bye's in the starting lineup cost them all the points they needed to beat the Ridicule. Rhode Island accepted the win anyway, as they are looking for anyway to rebound after such a slow start. A big congratulations goes out to England for finally posting their first win when they faced W. Palm Beach. England was the last team to nab a victory this season.

Coach of the Week: Benton Harbor

Expansion Clashes

[10.22.02] This was the last week for the expansion teams to get that extra win before the midseason report cards come in. In the big matchup between number one pick England and high scoring Detroit things got ugly. In a game the Drive had been looking forward to the past few weeks, they didn't deliver like planned. England proved that you shouldn't overestimate the Teasers when five players scored in the double digits in week 7 to beat Detroit 90-76. In the other expansion matchup, W. Palm Beach won a close low-scoring affair against the Baltimore Bluejays 59-55 to move up to 3-4 heading into the tough matchup against the Kalamazoo Vikings.

The established teams didn't fail to amaze in week seven. Rhode Island dominated Benton Harbor in a 122-57 win for the Ridicule. Seattle was able to overcome a close game against the Green Bay Fudgepackers to be the first team to six wins this year. Also, a game that could have playoff implications later in the year, Wisconsin squeeked out a very close game against Timbuktu when the Wannabe's star quarterback Brett Favre left the game with a sprained knee. In the game of the week, Kalamazoo rode their normal midseason surge to squeek by the cinderella Rocko Bengals 99-95.

Player of the Week: Marshall Faulk (RB-Sea)
Coach of the Week: Rhode Island
