1(a) Explain the function of constant current bias.
(b) What does the term 'balanced output' mean?
(c) Explain different generations of I.C.s.
(d) Explain the voltage transfer curve of an op-amp.
(e) A monostable multivibrator is called a free running multivibrator. Discuss.
(f) Draw the circuit diagram of a voltage follower.
(g) Draw symbol of an op-amp, also draw its block diagram, showing each stage.
(h) State the Bode plot for stability.
(i) How does the trandconductance vary (qualitatively) with differential voltage?
(j) Over what differential voltage is diff. Amp. a good limiter?
(k) Explain Emitter follower amplifier?
(l) Draw a labelled current mirror circuit.

Section-B                                          Marks:5 Each

2. Compare and contrast the performance of inverting and non-inverting amplifiers, in terms of their parameters,
say voltage gain, input resistance, output resistance etc. Give at least five parameters
3. What are Chebyshev approximations? How do they compare with other approximations?
4. Explain the following:
    (a) Isolation Amplifier
    (b) Op-amp as Integrator
    (c) Op-amp as differentiator.
5. A cascade amplifier draws the amplifying properties of CE and CB configurations of bipolar technology.
Calculate the voltage and current gains of a cascade amplifier.
6. Describe a logrithmic amplifier. How can an antilog amplifier be made out of this?

Section-C                                        Marks : 10 Each

7. Draw the circuit diagram for a 2 op-amp differential amplifier. Derive expressions for its voltage gain
and input resistance. Discuss how it is superior to 1 op-amp differential amplifier.
8.(a) Draw the circuit diagram and explain the working of a Universal Active filter. Derive expression for
       its transfer function.
   (b) Find the output voltage from a 6-bit ladder which has digital input of: 101001 Assume V(0) = 0V and V(1) = + 10 V.
9. Describe the following:
    (i) data Acquisition System
    (ii) Clippers
(iii) One application of 555 timer.
