Phi Tau Phi Alumni Association
Greetings from the Phi Tau Phi Alumni Association.  Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!
PTP Needs You!
The Phi Tau Phi Spring Rush was held on Friday, January 23 in Dorward Rec Lounge.  We had three girls sign bids, Rachel, Amy and Jill.  For those of you who were at the rush where there were only two interested girls, Jill approached Danielle after the weekend to express her interest in pledging and was accepted.

Our only active sister, Danielle Kornfiend, will have her work cut out for her this semester as our other active sister, Crystal Czaja, has accepted an internship at Walt Disney World, Florida for the spring semester.

Danielle's plan right now is to officially start the pledging process on Saturday, January 31 to give herself time to work out a pledging schedule.  On Sunday, February 1, she is holding a sorority meeting for anyone who would like to attend to find out more about her plans for pledging and the rest of the semester.

Since there is only one active sister, regular sorority meetings may not be feasible but if others are willing to meet with her and bounce ideas around, she will schedule more.  If you are interested in attending meetings with Danielle or assisting in any way, please contact her at 255-3296 or
[email protected].

Even if you can not meet with her, she would appreciate hearing any ideas and suggestions you may have for activities she can do this semester with her limited resources.
Alumni Association Events
Community service has been a big part of Phi Tau Phi's  history.  Many of us have participated in service projects while at UMM and we'd like to see the Alumni Association continue with that tradition.  Our first project has been to register Phi Tau Phi as a team for the 3 mile Walk-America event in Ellsworth on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at 8:00 a.m.  We have set a modest goal of $500.00 for our first attempt at this.

If you would like to join our team and walk with us, please contact Patti Roy S'89, our "team captain" at
[email protected] or 207-941-9448 to register and select a T-shirt size.

You can  make a donation to sponsor our team by going to our personalized March of Dimes website at
http://www.walkamerica.org/proy.

We have also decided to begin sponsoring a charity as an annual event.  We plan to set aside a percentage of all our fundraising  throughout the year to make a significant donation to a particular charity near the holidays.  We will also hold fundraisers during the year specifically for this charity.  One charity suggestion that would fit well with our sorority is breast cancer as it is an issue of particular significance to women.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions regarding charity fundraising, please feel free to contact us.

Once we have chosen a charity, donations could be made through the Alumni Association and updated Treasurer's Reports would be made available in future newsletters as well as on our website.
