Lyceum
of
Batangas
AMONG THE LEADING SCHOOLS  FOR 21ST CENTURY PROFESSIONALS
The Lyceum of Batangas, LB was founded in 1966 by Senator Sotero H. Laurel in 1966. But the philosophical foundations of LB were laid over a decade earlier when his father, President Jose P. Laurel established the Lyceum of the Philippines in Intramuros, Manila.

Even from the site was first chose
for the first Lyceum, Sotero was by
his father's side, and was to succeed
him as the President of the Lyceum
when the founder passed away in 1959. Under Sotero' watch, the Lyceum gained its reputation as a leader in the fields of Law and Foreign Service.

By the mid 1960's, Sotero began                                 drawing up plans for a satellite                                     campus, in Batangas, his father's                                 home province. Meanwhile, other                                 prominent Batangauenos, sisters Belen and Criselda of the Exequiel Castillo family were espousing the opening of a quality tertiary level school.

They joined forces with the Senator. The group chose the present site of the main campus, a 2.2 hectare property a short distance from the Batangas Provincial Capitol.
The new school adopted the educationl philosophy of President Laurel while designing curricula oreiented to the needs of the job market through the decade.

So LB was among the fist in the region to offer courses like Nursing, Medical Technology, Marine Engineering and Customs Administration.
