Work Experience

 

2003-Present            Bilingual School Psychologist; Prince William County Public Schools, Virginia.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the assessment of students in order to assist in the measurement and interpretation of student's intellectual, social, emotional and educational development.  Participates in Child Study comities to provide recommendations to teachers, parents and counselors, addressing student concerns.  Provides informal counseling to students (individual or group), to assist with development of appropriate social/emotional skills.   Assists in the development of educational and behavioral management programs required to alleviate or remedied behaviors.  Provide consultation to teachers and parents to facilitate student educational, social and emotional growth.  Assures that, as a result of a recommendation for assessment, a comprehensive report is developed and written in descriptive, non-technical terms that may be easily understood by parents and teachers. Insure that recommendations made as a result of the psychological evaluation are practical, educationally based, and student driven. Participate in Eligibility Meetings to provide assistance in the identification of those students who require intervention in their educational program. Insure that adequate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of information are maintained per County regulations. Provide formal “Counseling as a Related Service” as part of the IEP process.  Work collaboratively with other Student Services staff providing consultation, counseling, intervention, referral and crisis management within the school environment (i.e. substance abuse, attendance, school health nurse, guidance, human relations).  Works collaboratively with school administration and Guidance Department to provide crisis intervention, violence prevention, and suicide prevention service within the school Seating. Responsibilities:

Counsel patients during their pregnancy test about their options. Counsel, support, and follow up to new pregnant patients during the prenatal care.  Referral to other services related with the prenatal care such as WIC, Health Classes, and Medicaid to guarantee their families stability.  Generated, develop and coordinates inter departmental monthly reports for statistical analysis of activities, referred and done, every month. Coordinate and develop Parenting Classes Seminar for the Latino Community.

 

o                                   Technical Service to Victims and Witnesses, Puerto Rico Department of Justice.

                                    Responsibilities:

Counsel and support victims of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault during the judicial process. Coordinate and help in the process of obtaining shelter and/or housing for the victims. Provide psychological, medical and financial aids to guarantee the stability of the victims and their families.  Give support and follow up to the needs of relatives, arising from the judicial process. Generate, develop and coordinate monthly reports for statistical analysis of activities, referred and done, every month.

 

1996-1998      Case Manager AIDS Integral Care Project, Humacao, Puerto Rico

                                   

                                    Responsibilities:

Carry out orientation of the negative HIV tested person, at risk, for the prevention of contagion with HIV.  Handle cases of HIV positive clients, identify needs and help in the management of claim specifications.  Function as guide and counselor for support group, for positive tested males with a rehabilitation plan. Generate, develop and coordinate monthly reports for statistical analysis, prepared every month. Develop and edit federal and state proposals four fund request, to guarantee the integral services of the HIV patients.
