       APS Student Mascot

String Girl
A young girl who has just entered the university is trying to think about cutting-edge new physics theory - the theory of everything

"String Girl" - Inspired by interesting lectures at APS lecture series she devotes herself to think about extra dimensions of the universe.

A female character has been chosen for my mascot in order to encourage female participation in the world of Physics and to deliver the message that Physics is not a subject for male only.
.

The skirt she is wearing highlights the three of the four fundamental forces of nature: electromagnetic, strong and weak force which dominate the quantum world.

Her top carries the most illusive force of nature, the gravity, which dominates Albert Einstein's world of General Relativity, which is a theoretical framework for understanding the universe on the largest scales : stars, galaxy and supernovae.

After attending the lectures at APS she at a very young age realizes that the two fundamental pillars of nature -quantum and general relativity- should be combined as two sets of rules for the same single nature doesn't make sense to her. She therefore, starts to think about string theory which describes nature in 11 dimensions. This has been represented by the two Calabi-Yaus at either sides of her head.

Students who bear the future responsibility of  every nation thus learn and are informed about the wonders of Physics from APS.
