| Space Camp, Blow by Blow with Excerpts from the Journal of Allison Cawrse Continued . . . Wednesday, July 21, 2004 We had another really busy day. I got switched positions for the EDM. I was going to be Station Scientist on the ISS, but got put in PROP in MOCR because if I scuba dive I HAVE to be in MOCR. I find that really stupid. I didn't want to be PROP at all, of all my training, that was the position I wanted the least, I did NOT want it. My choice was be station scientist on the ISS and not dive or be PROP in MOCR and dive, so I chose PROP. I really want to dive, and no way am I going to let Trump have my fun, no way, I WILL dive. I'm upset though that he has to read me what to do cause he can't read very well from what I'm told. The girls were up late talking last night and it sounds like he may be dyslexic, which I feel really bad for him if he is, but I don't want to suffer during the dive cause he can't read me what I'm suppose to do. Oh well, I guess we'll just see how it goes. The EDM is tomorrow morning right after breakfast. The 1/6th gravity chair was fun today. It was the same as last year, but still fun, I got pictures of me on it. I can't wait to see them. Area 51 went well. We did the same three tasks as last year and finished all within time, though barely. I got my knee pretty scraped up on one of them, there was sand in the tunnel and my knee landed in it. I washed lots of sand off my arms, hands and legs tonight. We had our Delta mission today, that was lots of fun, I was on the Canada arm for the orbiter. Everything went really smoothly. Cynthia and I had lots of fun, and got pictures. I love the arm!!! We launched rockets, mine went the highest I think and it flew nice and straight. I was so proud!!!! It ended up landing on the road and I had to walk out pretty far to get it. It was still useable when I found it, I built it really well. When Esais was taking out the engine, he broke the engine mount tube, so after that it wasn't usable so I threw it away. I couldn't take it home anyway cause of the engine residue, I probably would have had problems at the airport. So it got thrown away. We went to the Imax theater again and this time watched Space Station. It hasn't changed since last year, lol. I love the theater. Except there was this kid sitting in front of me, he put his hands up on the top of his chair and kept touching my leg, I really didn't like that!! I kept moveing and was very uncomfortable. Cause of that I didn't enjoy it much. Then when he finally put his hands down and I could relax and put my legs back, he put his hands up again, that was disturbing. So I sat uncomfortably again. Finally when his hands went down and I moved back, thank goodness he didn't put them back up again. It was really annoying!! We had the ECLSS briefing and EDM training today. Both were boring and there's not much to say about it. We also went to the museum. Most of the team went to ride the space walk ride, which has changed because it used to be the Mars ride, I think the Mars one was much better, and lots more bumpy, lol. I didn't go on the climbing wall but I watched lots of people do it and took pictures for them. Well, that was my day, and I'm tired, so goodnight! Thursday, July 22, 2004 Of note: This is how the EDM works now, first two hours, MOCR is the normal old MOCR with eight people now, they added spots since they got rid of the payload specialist and there's only sixteen on a team now, so half is in MOCR. The other half are all on the orbiter for the first two hours, the MS's do their EVA and the pilots drive but I don't know what the other four do. Then they all go onto the ISS for the next two hours and MOCR moves to ISS MOCR which is in a completely different place. Then for the final two hours, MOCR moves back to the regular old MOCR, the pilot, commander, MS1 and MS2 go on the orbiter and the station crew stays on station. Well, we had the EDM first thing this morning. It went well I guess. I'm really bummed because scuba was canceled. Apparently the communication for the dive helmet wasn't working, but during the second two hours they tested it, and I was the one checking it in ISS MOCR, and it worked, I was so mad. I sat there and looked through the window at the tank. It was all set up for my dive and I didn't get to!!!! I just sat there in ISS MOCR and moped. Then took the mission scientists job of talking to the station and helping them with problems so that I could keep busy. I got to watch everyone die, it was fun, lol. Stix apparently got on board and the first thing he did was inject himself with morphine, so he died for a while. There were lots of medical anomalies on the ISS. I tried to help but couldn't keep up with it all. The ISS was popping popcorn and we in MOCR wanted some, so we sent Ace down to get it cause he was taking a bathroom break anyway, so he comes back empty handed. He forgot to get the popcorn. So we sent him back down. Esais was like, ok, just for that I'm giving him problems. So when he came back he got "sick" because he was "allergic" to the popcorn. We tried treating him but ended up giving him forty-two cc's of the medicine he needed instead of 15 like we were suppose to, so he got really sick and we just ended up injecting him with morphine to knock him out so we didn't have to listen to him. It worked and whenever he started to wake up we just gave him more, so he was drugged up the whole time we were in ISS MOCR. |
