Rogue, the most mysterious of all the X-Men, her real name is unkown, as is her true birthplace (is it Caldecott or elsewhere), her parents could be anyone, and her powers too are a mystery.
Rogue has one of the most unfortunate of all mutant powers, it is a power that has stolen away her ability to touch others. Should Rogue touch anyone she will steal their knowledge, powers (if they're a mutants) skills, sometimes physical attributes, and in a worse case senario even their life!
The first manifestation of this power lead to the lifelong coma of her first boyfriend, Cody Robbins, and also lead to Rogue been abandoned by her mother (so it seems) in the woods outside Caldecott with nothing but a shotgun. Always regarded as strange with her white streaked hair, Rogue was now in danger of been KILLED by the townspeople.
It was around this time that she was found by Mystique, who was at first disgused as an ordinary woman, but then revealed herself to prove to Rogue she wouldn't hurt her. Whether this was the first time Rogue actually met Mysitque isn't known, but it seems not to be.
Mystique took Rogue to live with her and her partner Destiny, Mystique for all purpose loved Rogue like a daugher, but was not above using the strange powers she possessed for her own means.
As leader of the Second Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Mystique realised Rogue's ability to absorb memories and powers could greatly help the cause.
However, everything went terrible wrong when Rogue overheared Destiny (a precognitive mutant) warning Mystique that one day Rogue would be jurt greatly in a battle with Ms. Marvel. Mystique vowed to protect Rogue, but Rogue took matter into her own hands, with tragic results.
Discovering Ms. Marvel was also Carol Danvers, Rogue attacked the woman in San Fransico, and during the fight, grabbed onto her with her bare hands.
It was prehaps because of the desperation of the fight, as well as how long Rogue held onto her, because Carol Danvers entire being was absorbed into Rogue, PERMANENTLY!
Rogue threw Carol off the Golden Gate Bridge in an effort to stop the voices in her head, Carol was saved by Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman, how took Carol to a hospital. Seemingly brain-dead, Carol would eventually be revived by Professor Charles Xavier, with her memories intact, but with no emotional connections to them.
Rogue on the otherhand found Carol's powers exhilerating at first, she was now able to fly, lift 50 tonnes, and was all but invinciable, and had a sixth sense.
Rogue used her new powers to defeat the X-Men by herself!
But her new powers ALSO came with Carol Danver's personality, a personality that ripped up Rogue's mind with guilt, confusion and hatered. Rogue's own mind was attacking her, as Carol fought with her for control.
Despite Mystique's best efforts, Rogue realised her foster mother couldn't help her, she knew though, that there was one person out there who could.
