The X-Men
Storm having regained her memory, remembered of course, that she is an X-Man, and she and Remy return to the X-Mansion, only to find that it has been destroyed.

The two sneak in, and Remy is immediately 'greeted' by Cable, who shoves a gun in his face and doesn't seem to recognise Storm as a child.

Eventually, Warlock and Forge recognise Storm for who she is, and she takes command once again, especially after Sue Richards and Cyclops are captured and turned into Hounds by the Hound Master and sent to capture the two Franklin Richards (one from the future and the present one) and Rachel Summers (the possible future daughter of Cyclops and Jean, and the future Pheonix).

This mission is successful, and shorthly afterwards Storm is returned to her adult form.

Gambit been Gambit figures only on sticking around for a couple of weeks or so and then taking off again, hoping of course that his new found friend Stormy will come along. Storm however feels a responsibilty as the leader of the X-Men, and convinces him to stick around a little longer.

The reaction of the X-Men to Gambit isn't known save for the fact that at first Wolverince doesn't think to much of him, and the two even battle in the War Room, however Remy wins through cunning, and keep in mind beating Wolvie's a distinction.

Remy never actually joins the team officially, as he will remark later on, he is an X-Men 'by default not choice'.

Either way we first see Remy in an X-Men costume (which he doesn't wear again thank God 'cause it doesn't suit him) shortly after Lila Cheney shows up and tells the X-Men Xavier's life is in danger.

Despite not joining up because he was formerly asked, Remy soon becomes as involved and as much a believer in the X-Men's cause then any member that official joined.

Although it's suggested that Remy's reasons for staying in the X-Men might be a little more then just to fight for an ideal.
