The Tract of Passage
When Remy turned 17 in order to enter the Guild as a full member he had to go through what is known as the Tract of Passage.

Remy's Tract of Passage sent him to Paris, to  the thief  known as Guinevere Darceneux, who had stolen 'L'Etoile Tricherie' (the Cheating Star) from Martin Herzog a man she'd been dating, who hired Sabretooth to get it back.

Inexperinced, Remy  had no idea that Sabretooth knew his every move and was just waiting for the right time to ruin everything.

Sabretooth made his move after Remy stole the pedant from Guinevere after seducing her, he left right away, and minutes later Sabretooth arrived, and kidnapped Guinevere. He also kidnapped Henri, and tied the two of them together and held them high above the ground on top of the Cathedral of Notre Dame.

Remy returned to where he and Henri were staying to find his brother gone and the note from Sabretooth, and he arrived to find the scene of his nightmares.

Sabretooth demanded that Remy hand over the pedant, which Remy did, but Sabretooth always heartless did the unforgivable. Despite having the pedant he let go of the ropes, leaving Remy only time to save one of the captives! His brother, or a girl he had betrayed!

Remy picked Henri, and Guinevere feel to the ground, and shortly died, surviving just long enough for Remy to come to her side and hear that she would have given him the pedant if only he'd ask. Her death had been for nothing.

Remy and Henri returned home and despite the fact Remy didn't have the pedant with him, he became a fully-fledged memeber of the Guild.
Romeo and Juliet
When Remy turned 18 he and Bella Donna Boudreaux were immediately wed. However the marriage didn't last long at all, that very night Julien Boudreaux challenged Remy to a duel, forced would probably be more accurate.

Either way Remy was left with no choice but to duel with his brother-in-law, a duel that ended in tragedy. Julien probably lost his weapon and ran at Remy's blade much like he did years later in the Gambit LS, however as it is now known he didn't actually die, or if he did he was quickly reserrected by Candra, but he was thought to be.

The ramifications of this was dire, a Guild War seemd iminent at the loss of the son of the Patriarch of the Assassins Guild.

However a choice was given to Jean-Luc Le Beau, because the duel was seen in self-defence, it was a choice between execution or exile.

Exile was of course far prefable to execution and so it was that Remy Le Beau was forced into exile from his childhood home, and from his new wife Bella Donna, who he couldn't so much say goodbye to.

Remy did not ask her to come with him, because he didn't want her life ruined. Although some believe he jumped at the chance to run from married life, it is most likely that both are true.
