Background

New Order regime through the development ideology conducted social transformation in all of social life aspects such as change the culture, social and political structure of local with the modernization. What are the impacts? The various of social phenomenon, such as violent conflict, corruption, public participation and the limitation of political system to accommodate it until political problem base on the religion becoming inherent from democracy transition in Indonesia. The phenomenon are the evidences of the failed social transformation that conducted by new order. Base on the phenomenon above, there are some important issues becoming the part of social transformation, that is anti corruption and good governance, conflict and peace, education and globalization, local development and public participation, and religion and democracy transition. As an effort to solve the problems above and to formulate a critical and an effective social transformation strategy, hence it is important to conduct many supporting activities. The activities are such as research, workshop, training, facilitation, advocacy, consultation and publication.

GOALS

The goals of CeSoTS Unair: 1. To conduct a study of social transformation critically which have been conducted in Indonesia and give a new alternative and strategy of social transformation. 2. To supply new chances to the issues, such as corruption and good governance, conflict resolution and peace, globalization, development and public participation and religion and democracy transition in a critical study and try to solve the issues democratically and fair. 3. To build intellectual network and activist of democracy at the local level, national and international in social transformation issue.

VISION & MISSION

Vision: Cesost Unair Surabaya is an independent institution base on the academic, which concern on social transformation strategy to create the justice, prosperity and democratization.

Mission: CeSoTS Unair strive to have a significant role to social transformation. The effort will be conducted with many programs at local level, national and regional by self-supporting and also cooperation with the others institution.
