Sunday, July 8th, 2001: Today we arrived in Newfoundland. The plane ride was great. We took cabs to Memorial University and unpacked our stuff in our dorms. The weather is cool but clear.
Monday, July 9th, 2001: Today was a full day of ice-breaking games. Everybody participated in lots of different teamwork games to get to know each other. While everybody was a little bit nervous at the airport, it looks like friends are being made already! Today we also had a tour of the campus by one of the students here.
Tuesday, July 10th, 2001: Today was the first day of classes. We spilt up to go to either "Archaeology", "Audio Notebook", or "Beaches". In Archaeology, campers discussed all different topics with archaeologist Crystal Lewis and planned out their mock archaelogical dig. In Audio Notebook, campers went downtown to record interviews with Newfoundlanders. In Beaches, campers explored some of Newfoundland's most beautiful sea-side scenery. In the evening, we all went to a dinner theatre where we had seafood and watched a very funny play all about life in Newfoundland.
Wednesday, July 11th, 2001: Today was the second day of classes. In Archaeology, campers had their mock dig and uncovered, catalouged, and analyzed different artifacts. In Audio Notebook, campers went to interview more Newfies and to the beach to record sounds such as the crashing waves. In the evening, we watched 2 movies- "The Rock" and "Stand By Me".
