Block B

Archaeology: Archaeology was a very interesting course. The Archaeology students would like to thank Crystal Lewis for a fun, entertaining and informative course. The first day was an interactive discussion on different types of artefacts, different types of stone tools and different types of excavation sites Crystal even managed to get a university student to come in and show us how to carve stone tools the primitive way (rocks and antlers). After that a real arcaeologist came to talk to us about (what else?) Archaeology. On the second day, we had three excavation sites set up for us. It was time to start the mock dig! Students carefully brushed away layers of soil, mapping locations of artefacts and cataloguing them. All in all, the day was a success. The last half day was a time to clean-up yesterday's mess and also to visit the Newfoundland Museum. Looking back, the archaeology students are looking forward to more programs as interesting as archaeology.
