We all know that most women grow up dreaming of their
wedding day. What a lot of men overlook though, is that women dream about
their proposal too. And if you're ready to propose
her for
dating and then you're out buying a
ring, you should probably invest some time in planning the proposal. You
only get to do it once. And you'll want to make it memorable for her.
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
What type of proposal does she want? Some women would
prefer it to be small and private. Others would prefer a proposal that's
very public. What do you think your girlfriend would prefer?
Where are you going to propose? This is similar to the
type of proposal she wants. But think it through. Is she sentimental? If
so, maybe she would prefer to a proposal that takes place where you had
your first date. Or maybe she prefer somewhere exotic (a nice restaurant
in town?) or somewhere that you two have always talked about going.
When are you going to propose? Is she going to think
that a New Year's Eve or Valentine's Day proposal is cliche or romantic? I
can't answer that one for you -- but you can, based on what you know about
your girlfriend.
Should you ask for her father or her parent's
permission before you propose? This may be vitally important. You're about
to inherit a whole new set of family. Make sure you're on their good side.
A quick chat with her dad can give you a lifetime of friendlier living.
It doesn't have to cost a lot. Your proposal can be
free. It's the thought that goes into it that counts. Before I proposed to
my now fiance, I read all sorts of things. I read articles. I read message
boards. I bought books. I came up with a ton of ideas. Then I thought
about it and came up with something that was exactly what she wanted. She
cried, she said yes. And she smiles and laughs every time she tells her
friends and family about it. It went exactly how I wanted it to.
