The internet has allowed me, an expatriot, to return to my nation. I left the United States as an infantryman in the United States Army. The year was 1991. George H.W. Bush was the president. We were at war with Iraq. That is precisely why I joined and precisely why I chose the Infantry. It’s a patritotism thing. If you’re a snivelling socialist, you wouldn’t understand. When I left the States, it never entered my mind that a large portion of American youth might one day openly state that they would prefer socialism to the Constitutional Republic we have enjoyed for over two centuries. If you had asked me then, if I thought that could ever happen, I would not have hesitated to tell you “no”. What has happened? What disease has blighted my home, my nation? I log on the internet and hit discussion boards. I read comments by American youth who openly espouse their wish for a society based on socialism. I read comments by American youth who equate defending the constitution with being a Nazi. I read about universities that want to ban free speech. And they do it too. With the full support of the student body. What has happened? I read stories about children being arrested for playing cops and robbers with paper guns. I hear young people calling our president ugly names and likening him to Hitler. I see the media twisting facts to suit whatever agenda they’re pursuing and Hollywood slipping not so subtle propaganda into virtually everything they produce. I hear people denigrating Christianity and sneering at those who would call themselves Christians. When did it turn in to a dirty word? I read reports that many of our youth cannot say in which century the Civil War occurred. Many don’t realize that Canada is a foreign country. Many don’t know who we fought against to win our Independence as a nation. And yet these same youth obviously feel that they know what’s wrong with our nation and the world at large, even if they don’t quite know where it is. How did it get like this? I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States. Every Soldier, Marine, Sailor and Airman does. An oath is for life. They don’t require you to “unswear” yourself before you leave military service. I have solemnly sworn to protect and defend the Constitution- for the rest of my life. But can anybody point out the enemy to me? Are there any other patriots organizing a resistance? How do we excise this cancer that grows within us without mortally damaging ourselves and our nation as a whole? I don’t have a plan. I was an Infantryman but I was no general. But I will resist with any and every legal means available to me. I have a voice and and a vote and I will let these be the weapons I take up in defense of my nation and our way of life. This is, I suppose, a call to arms. Who will join me? More to come... |
