CT scan over, i return :-)

it's been a quiet last two days.  donna was off yesterday, so we had a nice day together.  she's on vacation this coming week, which will be nice for me.  i miss seeing her as much as i used to when we were both working.  odd that my being home would make out time together less, isn't it?  in any event, i'm not necessarily alone at the moment, because veronica is home, but as much as i love her, it just isn't the same.  she's not donna :-)

so i've been doing what i usually do...burning lots of cd's, listening to lots of music.  watching lots of tv.   i just bought and read the new michael moorcock novel 'the dreamthief's daughter,' which is the first new elric novel in like 10 years.  quite enjoyable...lots of focus on the whole multiverse that moorcock created, elric's connections to other incarnations of the eternal champion, ulric von bek, the runestaff, the grail, runeswords, and the rise to power of nazi germany in the first half of the 20th century.  i'd definitely recommend it, but even more so if you've already read 'the dragon and the sword.'

there are hopefully two more books to follow, 'the silverskin' and 'mournblade.'

here's stormbringer, btw...

let's see...must be more, mustn't there...?

well...we planted our flowerbeds over the last weekend, and we just had our first hibiscus bloom.   unfortunately we had violent thunderstorms today and it ripped the bloom off :-(   luckily i took some pictures of it, which you can find by going to my updates page, and then looking under updates for today's date.  it's easy that way...

did i mention i miss donna?

i did?

sorry.

damn.  i just noticed i'm a day behind.  i've been dating everything today as june 22.  it's the 23rd.   time to wake up, bill...

(the date above is correct, btw)

06.20.01, 21.34

i'm about to drink a pint of barium suspension as preperation for a series of CT scans tomorrow morning.  these are, i guess, the last CT's i need to get prior to the transplant.  i have no idea why i need them, other than the fact that i supposedly need them.  sigh...i hate barium.  they say it's flavored...bulls**t it is...unless they mean flavored like chalk.  gag.

just a short entry tonight.   i'm tired, and just don't want to deal with reality at the moment.  even better...now i won't be able to eat or drink anything else until after the CT's are done...around 12:30 pm tomorrow afternoon.

06.13.01, 21.05

i am spending entirely too much time on the computer.  it's gotten so bad that i'm using my second computer for nothing more than burning all of my CD's, and this one for digital audio editing.   the past week has seen me working almost non stop on cutting tracks apart and recording CD's for about half of the performances from NEARfest 1999 and NEARfest 2000.   gods, why do i put myself in such positions...?

on the transplant front...it's moving ahead slowly.  e-mail from the transplant coordinator today to find out what the story is, and if the transplant can happen.  sent back about a dozen questions, along with an affirmation that the transplant can indeed happen.   sigh...i just want it to be over.

fun stuff...updated my imood thingy...and it spit out that i should check out the following book: sandman...the dream hunters.  how did they know?  lol.

let's see...what else...???

honestly, not a whole lot.   wish i could come up with more for you, but alas, i cannot...

oh, wait...courtesy of mp3.com...my top ten list of band names from their band name generator (actually, the first 10 names it came up with, but hey...)

10: Reckless Bamboo Carnival

9: Golden Consumption

8: Byte Stone Velcro

7: Hideous Mirror Iris

6: Azure Rebirth

5: Violent Asthma

4: Left Vomit

3: Wild Zealot

2: Left Caffeine

and, the number one name from the band name generator at mp3.com...

1: Gorgeous Rebirth Rampant

actually, i kinda like number 6...if i ever start another band, i think that'll be the name...

06.07.01, 20.38

let's see...

yesterday had my last cycle of rituxan.  thankfully that's all over now.  i guess i get a week or so off, then it's time to start the daily injections of neupagen to prepare me for the stem cell transplant.

the time in the hospital is going to be hard.  i'll have a computer with me, but no web access, so i won't be able to keep the site updated while i'm gone, i won't have any e-mail access so i won't be able to contact anyone to keep them updated.  i'll basically be cut off from the world for anywhere from 3 to 4 and a half weeks.  that's going to be a hard one to cope with, to be honest.

now that i have two computers up and running, it's made things easier with regards to getting stuff done.  i can burn on the other computer, and...wait...we've seen this movie before, right?   thought so.  i won't prattle on about that.

tuesday donna and i went to new hope for the afternoon.  it was nice, but i got exhausted part way through and donna had to go back and get the car to pick me up.  i simply could not walk any further than i had.  that was scary.  but we had a nice lunch at the logan inn, shopped a little, and had an ok time.  we got home, i fell asleep for almost 3 hours, and woke up to donna and ronnie getting the barbeque going for steaks and hot dogs.   that was fun, too.

just finished reading dreamcatcher by stephen king.  waiting on my copy of the new elric novel to arrive at the bookstore.  and the old boc soundtrack to bad channels to show up at the record store.

np: yours is no disgrace, yes (live at house of blues vhs)

06.04.01, 20.30

see, i'm trying to be more regular in working on this site.  how long it lasts, who knows...but let's just accept for the moment, ok?

icky tacky front page image...i must change it.  i'll admit that it looked better in theory than it did in practice.  the new font and text colour scheme here in the journal pages seems to be a lot better, though...i'll keep that for a while :-)

learning more and more about how to work with raw html code.  it's taking some time, but i'm gettingmore and more comfortable with it.  not necessarily enough to want to leave the wonderful world of wysiwyg web design (oo-er!  try saying that three times fast!!!!), but enough so that when i want to change how something looks on the page and can't through the visual editor, i can get into the html code and do it.

spent the past week or so attempting to get into contact with some of my old school mates, as the reunion is coming up soon-ish (in the grand scheme of things) and i wanted to see how they're doing.   so far i've heard from about half a dozen, maybe a little more, who have e-mailed me.  that has been nice...it's been ten years since i've heard from most of them (so many have moved away from nj), and who knows if i'll be healthy enough to go to the 10th reunion...

i finally have my second pc up and running.  it was one of the last things i picked up at staples before i got sick and back on the disabled list (just like baseball...).  it's a compaq 7470...amd k6-2 533 mhz, 64 mb ram, 20 gb hd.  it has a cd-rw drive, which is nice...if i fall really behind, i can use this pc and that pc to burn cd's...or just that one, and do stuff like this on here.  makes things a little easier on me...a little less stressful.   like now...i'm burning a cd for a trade on that system while i'm working on my website here.  life is nice :-)

how's about a picture/painting?

06.02.01, 19.09

my god...has it really been almost 2 months since the last time i posted a journal entry?

ok, i've been very very unwell.  tired, exhausted.  i ended up in the hospital once again with a parvovirus infection that laid me up for a week.  i'm back on disability again, but i'm having a hard time dealing with breathing and stuff.  i get out of breath so much and so easily that it's not funny.

what have i been occupying my time with?

glad you asked.

a lot of my time has been spent making cd's.  i've just finished work on a 4 cd labour of love of yes rarities which i'm about to share with friends.  a lot of trading...i've had lots of shows come in recently.  i've also been doing lots of artwork for cd's...both ones i'm releasing on my own and ones for other people.  some of my handiwork can be found here...the archive of artwork for the prog_cdr list i own and moderate.  several of the releases...mostly...ok...all of my artwork is for 'official' group chains, with one exception...a piece i did for the yesswap list.  i hope you enjoy it.  i know i enjoy doing it.

i handle the housework now, which is nice.  i'm so domesticated...such the housewife.

and i've let this site go to hell and not update it in forever.  this is something i'm trying very hard to rectify now.

what else has been going on?

well, we changed over to cable internet access, which has been nice for me because i've been downloading loads of concerts and stuff and burning them off to cd.  it's only 1 way cable, so i still upload over a dial-up modem, which is slow.  but for now i'll take it. :-)

i just went and updated my imood indicator.  i wanted unwell, but they didn't have that one.  so i accepted dead.  it's somewhat accurate.

finally changed the font here so it's more readable.  apologies for making it so hard to read before.  style before substance...

np: it's love, yes (from my yesrarities set)

04.20.01, 14.08

only 13 days since my last entry...

lots of stuff happening...another 4 cycles of chemotherapy, with a medicine called rituxan.  info on my lymphoma pages...some new music came in in trades...

wait...this is my journal section, not my update page.

my birthday was monday, and it was a quiet one.  i didn't feel right on waking up, and i soon found out why...singer joey ramone, of the ramones, had died late sunday early monday of advanced lymphoma.   suck.

easter was nice...had the family over, which kinda helped with me not feeling great because of the birthdays and stuff.

i've also been busy running a new e-mail list for music trading, which has well over 100 members in it already.  that's been a lot of fun.

downloading loads of music at napster, now that we have cable internet.  that's been nice too.

photo of the day:

taken down by the delaware river during construction work at night with loads of fog...a very atmospheric photo i think...
