I primarily offer two kinds of workshops.
A starlab is a portable planetarium that has a capacity of about 25 people. Once it has been assembled, its dome is about 10 feet high, and 15 feet in diameter. I offer various programs that are tailored to the grade level of the intended audience which is typically grades K-8. Each presentation is between 30-40 minutes.
The Starlab requires a ceiling height of about 11+ feet and a room width of 12-15 feet in both dimensions.
I provide four different Starlab programs
In this worshop the children do a hands on activity demonstrating the relative sizes of the planets (by volume). They can also experiment and see how heavy something as everyday as a can of coke would feel on different planets! This activity acts as an excellent reinforcement for fractions!
