So, yeah, you're wondering, "Why a Shiva clique, you dork!" Well, first off, I'm not a dork, and secondly, I love Shiva to death! ^^ When I played Final Fantasy IX, I was a RPG newbie. Of course I didn't know what the heck a summon was. But, lo and behold, I found out. And Shiva was what I found. She was pretty, she was blue, she kicked arse, and she spun a lot! And don't forget the sparkles. Oh, you gotta love the sparkles. I'm sure I abused the summon ability in the game, and whenever the chance to summon Shiva comes up, I normally do.
However, the Final Fantasy series limited her somewhat. In Final Fantasy VII, Shiva was just a tripped up Ice2 spell. In Final Fantasy VIII, you had to do mad button mashing to get her to do substantial damage. In Final Fantasy IX, she was normally stuck doing 3,000 or so. That is not cool for a summon so pretty and uber cool. Go Final Fantasy X for ending this! Well, it did in a way. With Break Damage Limit, Shiva lives up to her uber cool name, and her Agility was madly high. Well, look at that! I'm rambling! Let's move on to the REAL purpose of this page, the information about her.
Shiva is a powerful summon from a high majority of the game series Final Fantasy with ice magic. Her name comes from the Hindu god Shiva, the Destroyer of Life. It fits, right? She kicks major butt.
The word opalescent, according to Webster's Dictionary, means "reflecting an iridescent light," and, yes, doltish one, it's an actual English word. Ice tends to do so when under certain circumstances, and it looks helluva pretty. Shiva is known to have very few colors to her, normally limited to hues of blue and purple. However, Final Fantasy X's Shiva has a slew of them, and it's a rather smashing combonation. =D Go Shiva!
And as if that weren't enough, in FFIX, you must equip an Opal to Garnet in order for her to learn how to summon Shiva. And opals are known for their high arrays of color! See? Works there, too. Marvel at my genius. >D
