GOD AND GUTIARS When I was learning how to play guitar I was playing my dads old guitar and that was fine however I wanted a guitar so I could learn the strumming patterns as he played. So I when looking at the local guitar store here in San Angelo, Texas while there the sales man (Corey Harmon) asked what I wanted to play on the guitar. I told him that I was learning to play worship music. Corey then asked me if I have ever prayed about my guitar. Corey told me that I need to pray and if God tells me to get a pawnshop guitar then so be it. (Not your usual sales line) I later found out that Corey got in some trouble for his comment for me to pray about it. Well, I took his advice. See I was looking at a really really nice Taylor brand guitar that was like $2,000. I keep praying and praying.
Then a few months later I was in San Antonio, TX on a family vacation and I headed over to Alamo Music and there she was my guitar. It was a Taylor Brand model 110GB. I got a good deal on it. It was really amazing that God kept sweetening the deal. First I got a discount on the Taylor guitar. Then I wanted a hard shell case instead of the gig bag that came with the guitar, so I asked the salesman and he said that they have a Taylor Brand guitar case in their basement and they couldnt figure out why it was there. They gave me the case for like $20. Normally they are like $80 to $100. Then I got a nice leather strap that was normally like $45 for like $15. Then they gave me a bunch of Taylor Brand picks. Then dad, who was with me, got the same deal I did. So we walked out of their with 2 guitars, 2 gig bags, 2 hard shell cases, two leather Taylor straps, and a bunch of picks.
God has been
really blessed me when I prayed about that guitar. I still play it today. I named it Tina Taylor after my wife Tina. |
