Gun Fingerprint Sensor Mandated by Law
May 12, 2055
After decades of rising death counts and injuries because of gun abuse,
Congress passed a law the day before yesterday that mandates that all guns sold starting one month from today will have fingerprint sensors integrated into the trigger so that it will be impossible to fire unless the person holding the gun is a registered user. Guns without the sensor will
continue to be allowed but most hope that they will gradually be phased out with the current monetary incentives to trade them in or equip them with sensors catalyzing the transition. |

The bill has being debated back and forth for almost a month before this week's record number of country-wide
shootings, which changed the bill from something being pushed for by gun control advocates into a national priority. The President signed the bill one hour before I wrote this. The increased demand will actually make the sensors cheaper because they can now be mass produced (good news for people who were planning to buy a gun with a sensor anyway). The only surprise that comes with the bill is that a practical exam must now be passed before someone can keep a gun license for over a year. Otherwise the person can keep the gun but the fingerprint sensor (FPS) won't allow use. As for the 2nd Amendment, Senator Grey explains "This is not an infringement on the right to keep and bear arms. We simply ask that those arms be used by those who are supposed to use them...This law will end the incidents of children accidentally dying of gun misuse, and the stealing of guns for crime as soon as the transition is complete."
