As I sit here thinking of our Old Hometown,
My smile soon turns to a big frown.
As I realize things don't ever stay the same,
And life is really like a child's big game.

We think in our mind's eye of things past,
Just like they were when we saw them last.
But it depends on how we play the game,
How much things change or stay the same.

It's like seeing a child when he is very small,
Then as an adult, not recognize him at all.
A town changes in much the same way,
A little here and there, a little bit every day.

When we go back, we know, it's the same place,
But yet so different with all its new face.
Trees uprooted and buildings torn down,
And new things being built all over town.

We don't notice the change when we stay
around,
But leave for awhile and this is what
I've found.
No one can go back and find things the
same,
We must always go forward, this is the
rule of the game.
