Eva Pope Eva Pope's roots are in Appley Bridge where her parents still live. She is best known for her role in 'Coronation Street' when she played barmaid, Tanya Pooley. Claire Brightwell Claire arrived in Cardale in series 12. An old army pal of Alex's, she applies for the job of practice nurse at The Beeches and when it is giving to a guy instead, she uses her feminine power to get what she wants. Claire's arrival in Cardale has a huge impact on everybody. After sleeping with Dr Matt, she test Tom's fidelity by kissing him, despite his relationship with her best friend. But it's not really Tom she wants. Claire is really in love with Alex and on a camping trip where the pair encounter a helicopter crash, Claire kisses Alex and admits her true feelings. Alex rejects Claire's advances and the nurse continues to try and break up her friends relationship with Tom. Her destructive nature also inflicts pain on Dr Will Preston, when Claire drugs and rapes him when it becomes apparent that he has problems with his own relationship with Dr Kate. Then feeling rejected again, Claire accuses him of rape and takes an overdose - but it is Will who comes to her rescue. Determined to ruin Alex's wedding to Tom, Claire cancels the registry office that thay had booked, destroys all of the wedding presents and even Alex's dress, but this is nothing compared to what she does next. Using a gun, that she stole from a patients house while the old man died in front of her, Claire kidnaps Alex and they end up at the top of a water-filled quarry. When Will and Tom come to the rescue, Claire shoots Tom in the shoulder, leaving Will to talk the gun-crazed, psychotic nurse down. Just as it looks like he is getting through to her, Claire surprises everyone by throwing herself and Alex over the cliff. Are they dead or alive? |
