Potton Twinning Association has, for over 10 years, helped to maintain friendship links with our twin town in Germany.
Langenlonsheim is situated in the Nahe valley, one of Germany's wine producing areas. The Nahe river is a tributary to the Rhein and joins the Rhein valley at Bingen. It was through the link that Hitchin, Herts, had with Bingen that led to Potton's link with Langenlonsheim. The first contacts were made during a visit to Bingen by a Hitchin choir, some of whose members also belonged to
St. Marys Singers here in Potton. This led to links being established with the
Gemischter Chor in Langenlonsheim and eventually to Potton itself. It was at this time that the Twinning Association was formed to co-ordinate exchanges and other events.
