Dyke Rd
Mandela to Kgn

The Tunnel is part of a cluster of  intersections erected as the Alternative.  All roads leading from Portmore must come this way to exit onto the Mandela Highway, including the Dyke road, currently being upgraded.

Lord Anthony Gifford during his address to the residents of Portmore at the Civic Centre on March 22, 2005.  Lord Gifford concluded that the route via the Mandela Highway was not an alternative route within the meaning of section 8(2) of the Act, since it is not in the area in which the toll road is to be established. He was also of the opinion that in designating a toll road without providing for a lawful alternative, the Minister acted unlawfully.
