April 2004
Dear Blue Key member:
This
spring marks the 60th anniversary of the Blue
Key Society – and the 60th year that the Blue
Key award will be given to Junior High/Middle School
band members.
Both of these milestones
are worth celebrating and we’d be delighted if you can
join us for the festivities: a concert and barbecue
dinner for alumni and friends at
4 p.m. on Sunday, June
13, 2004, at the Port Chester Middle School.
Captain Ken Force, who
mentored many of you during his days in the district’s
music department, is composing new music to commemorate
the occasion. Ken will also be with us on June 13 and is
looking forward to renewing old acquaintances.
A catered barbecue
dinner will follow the concert. (For details and
reservation information, click
here.) Blue Key
memorabilia, including pictures from the past, nearly
every concert program from 1944 to the present, and the
traditional wall plaques, will be on display.
Even if you can't join us on June 13, we'd love to hear
from you. Please print the
alumni information form,
fill it out and send it to us. Or, if you'd like to
purchase a greeting in our anniversary program or help
support the Port Chester Middle School Band Association,
please click here.
Blue Key’s founder,
Archie Jacobs, is no longer with us. Even so, I know he
would be proud to see that the traditions he started six
decades ago are carried on through his students, their
children and their grandchildren. I hope you can join
us June 13.

press information.
Sincerely,
Ken Kraut
Band Director
