Local Information
The information that follows are my own views and opinions. None of the businesses have paid me to be mentioned, or asked me to endorse them. I have included them for informational purposes, only to give potential visitors an idea of what our area has to offer. I am very proud of my community and want our visitors to experience everything it has to offer. The businesses I have included are just a few of my personal favorites, and descriptions are my personal views. This page is intended as an overview of the area,  there are many more places to eat, drink, shop etc.... and omission of any particular business is not to be construed as unworthy of mention. -Debbie Vertnik
Restaurants
Tonka BBQ and Grill-
Location: Spring Park
Distance from Port Charlotte-About 3/4 of a mile
Description: A good rib joint. Front windows have a view of the Lake.
Lord Fletcher's-
Location: Spring Park
Distance from Port Charlotte: About 1 mile
Description: Another local favorite, "Fletcher's" is an upscale restaurant located right on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Although they have a lot of dock slips for their patrons, you might have trouble getting one on a hot summer day....this place is hoppin'!  Enjoy food and drinks on their open air patio, inside at their pub style dining  area, or upstairs for an elegant fine dining experience. Lord Fletcher's is a great place to eat, drink, and people
watch.
House of Moy-
Location: Mound
Distance from Port Charlotte: About 1 1/2 miles
Description: Cantonese eat in or take out, the House of Moy
is my favorite chinese restaurant not only in the area, but anywhere I have ever been! It is family owned and has been in Mound for 25 years or more. Mrs. Moy usually does the cooking herself. They have a lunch buffet Monday-Friday, and a dinner buffet on Mondays only. The buffets are small, but usually have 2 or 3 entree's, a few appetizers, lettuce salad, and they are reasonably priced. If you're not a "buffet person", you can always order off the menu, again prices are reasonable.
Scotty B's-
Location: Mound Marketplace
Distance from Port Charlotte: About 2 miles
Description: Family style,  locally owned. Scotty's is a great place to take the kids. They offer burgers and sandwiches, and homestyle dinners. They usually have a nightly special, and they have a really good Sunday brunch. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
.
Al & Alma's-
Location: Mound (on Phelps island)
Distance from Port Charlotte: About 2 miles
Description: Al & Almas Supper Club and Boat Charters is a restaurant with a New England nautical theme. Their menu includes steaks, chops, ribs, chicken, and burgers. The restaurant has a limited view of Cooks Bay. One of the things that makes this restaurant unique is that they serve beer/wine only, but you can bring your own bottle of "hard" liquor and you purchase the "set up" (soda or juice to mix it with). I love this because it really saves on the bar bill!  They also have several large yaght type boats that they charter mostly for group parties, but they do offer public cruises in which a meal may be included on board.
Minnetonka Drive-In-
Location: Spring Park
Distance from Port Charlotte: About 3/4 mile
Description: Seasonal, good, old fashioned hamburger drive-in. Complete with car-hops. I love this place!
You can sit in your car, tune in to the "oldies" station,  and enjoy your burger, fries, and malt, or there are a limited amount of picnic tables. Thursday night is "hot rod" night, so if you like vintage cars, this is the night to go. People from all over the Twin Cities bring out their classic cars, and on a warm summer Thursday night, it's packed!  In addition to burgers and fries, they have other sandwiches, ribs, and the best fried chicken and onion rings in town! (In my opinion, of course).
Carbone's Pizza-
Location: Mound Marketplace
Distance from Port Charlotte: About 2 miles
Description: GREAT PIZZA. They also have sandwiches on their menu.
