Port Charlotte-FAQ's

We have designed this page to answer other general questions.  We hope you will find it helpful in deciding if Port Charlotte is right for you.

Q. Are pets allowed?
A. Although we are animal lovers,  we do not allow pets.
Q. Is smoking allowed?
A. You may smoke on the porch or outside, however, smoking in the house is prohibited.
Q. Do you have a place for me to park my car?
A. We do have parking available in the driveway which will accomodate 2 regular (economy-minivan) vehicles.
The garage is not available for tenant use.

Q.. Is the house equipped with cable TV,  Satellite, DVD, and/or VCR?
A. At this time we only have regular old fashioned "antenna" TV, and a DVD/VCR, however, you are free to contact the local cable company to make arrangements, at your own expense.
Q. Does the house have a washer & dryer?
A. There is no washer/dryer for tenant use, however there is a laundromat about 1 mile away..
Q. Is the lake swimmable from the shore or dock?
A. That depends on the time of year and how brave you are!  Early in the season before the weeds get too out of control, the water within our lakeshore is quite pleasant to swim in, provided you don't mind cooler water.
Later in the summer the water is very warm, but tends to be a bit weedy. If that bothers you, there are many
public beaches that are virtually "weedless". We are happy to direct you if you are new to the area.

Q. Will we be able to catch any fish from the dock or shore?
A. Well, there are no guarantees on catching fish, but there are "sunnies" a plenty that are there for the catching right off the dock, as well as bass and crappies.  Lake Minnetonka is full fish,  including Walleye, Northern Pike,  and even Muskie.
Q. Do I need a license to fish in Lake Minnetonka?
A. Yes, it is a State law that you have a Minnesota fishing license to fish from any Minnesota lake...even if it's frozen!
Q. Do you have a BBQ grill?
A. Yes indeed.  There is a gas grill hooked right up to the central gas line. Works in winter too.
Q. We have a boat, is dock space included in rent?
A. Yes, space for 1 boat is included in the rent for tenant use. We keep our own boats there during the summer months. When we use our boats, you may see us using the perimeter of the property to get to and from our dock and boats. We will do our best not to disturb you.
Q. I don't have a boat, can I rent out my portion of the dock to someone else?
A. Negative. The dock space is intended for the sole use of the tenant/owner. Rental of the dock is strictly prohibited.  Violation would result in immediate cancellation of your lease and you would be required to vacate the premises by the end of the month in which the violation occured. A BIG NO-NO on that one.
Q. Port Charlotte looks like a great place to get a little R & R, but I noticed you only show a monthly cost, can I spend my vacation there for a week or so?
A. Another negative. The house is available to be rented strictly for residential use only......City orders.
Q. I work downtown but don't like to drive, is there city bus service nearby?
A. Yes. The Metro Transit bus stop is only about 1 1/2 blocks from the house.
