| Here is a list of some of the consequences women face in the Middle-East: *Women cannot be treated by male doctors, * Women have to be escorted in public by a male relative, * Whipping and/or beating if a woman is not accompanied by the male relative, * Whipping and/or beating if a woman's ankles are not covered, * Woman are banned from using cosmetics (in numerous occassions women who have had painted nails have had their fingers cut off), *Ban on women wearing brightly clothing (that means the burqa could only be dull colors like black), * A women will even be stoned to death in public for defying a law, especially if not wearing a veil. (Shalnikov 2&3) There are many more instances in which women are abused either verbally or physically. It seems that being a woman is consequence enough. |
