How many times have all
of us South Orange County kiddies had to drive to North
County, or LA, or even San Deigo to see an awesome band
play? Lets face it, while there are a few local "spots"
for bands to play at, there is NO definitive South County
venue. This is Orange County, California people, with
one of the largest punk rock populations on the planet.
Why is the only place around here to play Chain Reaction?
(Chain is, of course, an awesome venue). So, we present
to you, the show-going fans out there, a proposition;
Bring punk rock to south county, and support a venue.
It benefits everyone, bands will get a place to play,
labels will get a place to promote, and fans will get
a badass venue.
The name: "Reactor
Three" is our thought for a name, for several reasons.
#1- it is the reactor in chernobyl that exploded (and
while not a good thing for millions of northern europeans,
it kinda goes along with our whole "Cosmonaut"
thing).
#2- We will hope it will appeal to Chain "Reaction",
since they are our beloved semi-local venue, and we
want to work with them and have them back us, not compete
against them in any way.
#3- it sounds cool.
The Project: PORN plans
on having location and floor plans and all that sort
of thing drawn up, either by us or hopefully by professionals,
depending on the cost. We will then present these plans
to a number of prominant music and punk rock related
businesses in the area, as well as other nearby venues
such as our friends at Chain. Assuming we recieve approval,
and maybe even some financial backing, we will then
present the plans to local bands and labels, and then
larger bands and labels, and see if they approve. (All
plans will be uploaded online, so everyone will be able
to see them). Now, with all this done, the major obsticle
would still be "wheres the money coming from".
This we dont know yet, we've considered different plans,
everything from asking for funding from bands, to a
full on corporation type deal, with stock and shit.
While i dont think the second one will be happening,
we've decided to face one hurdle at a time, and get
through the planning stage first.
The Goal: A South County
venue that benefits everyone; bands, labels, businesses,
fans.
