UFF DA! - HAIL ERIS!

One day, Ole was walking through the mountains of Norway on his way to visit Lena and he was thinking more about the supper she had planned instead of where he was walking. All of a sudden he slipped and slid over the edge of the cliff beside his mountain path. About 20 feet down and with several hundred more feet to go, he frantically grabbed onto a bush that moved but held for the moment.

There he was, hanging by a bush above certain death and his hands began to perspire and tire almost immediately. "Is anyone up there?" Ole hollered.
"I'm here Ole." Came the deep voice from above.
"Who's there? Can you help me?" Ole yelled back.
The voice answered, "It's the Lord Ole, Let go and I will save you."

Ole looked down and he looked up and he looked at his slipping hands and he looked down again and he looked up again. Finally he yelled back up the side of the cliff, "Is anyone else up there?"

The Ole and Lena Cabal is an officially unrecognized cabal of the POEE - THE PARATHEO-ANAMETAMYSTIKHOOD OF ERIS ESOTERIC. If you really want to know what that MEANS, you'll just have to read the Principia Discordia or consult your pineal gland. For now it will suffice to say that the POEE is one manifestation of the Discordian Society about which you will learn more and understand less. We are a tribe of philosophers, theologians, magicians, scientists, artists, clowns, and similar maniacs who are intrigued with ERIS, GODDESS OF CONFUSION and with Her Doings.

When Erisians get together to do chaotic things they may form cabals. A POEE cabal is exactly what you think it is. The names of these disorganizations may involve the local priest's favorite color, animal, fnord, or sexual position. Or it may come from some totally obscure thought which formed itself in said priest's pineal gland at 2:23 A.M. after consulting with a case of beer or some other substance. The names may also honor infamous figures in the history of Discord. For example, the POEE HEAD TEMPLE is the Joshua Norton Cabal of the Discordian Society, which is named after Emperor Norton I. Thus I have chosen to name this cabal after two of the greatest archetypes of my Scandinavian heritage - Ole and Lena. Though they are often misunderstood and ridiculed, Ole and Lena have a great deal of wisdom to offer Erisians today.

FOOTPRINTS
Ole dreamed that he was walking down the beach with the Goddess. And he looked back and saw footprints in the sand.
But sometimes there were two pairs of footprints, and sometimes there was only one. And the times when there was only one pair of footprints, those were Ole's times of greatest trouble.
So he asked the Goddess, "Why, in my greatest need, did you abandon me?"
She replied, "I never left you. Those were the times when we both hopped on one foot." And lo, Ole was really embarassed for bothering Her with such a stupid question.
