Location:
POLYSTYPOS
Polystypos is one the five highest
villages and one of the most beautiful
of Cyprus at an altitude of 1.200
meters above the sea level.
Polystypos was named because of the
many vine trees planted around the
village (stypes). It is an ancient
village with various other names but
around the 12th century the name Polystypos
is found in various writtings. Apart
from vine trees a variety of other
trees as hazel nut, wallnut and other
fruit trees are cultivated. The village
houses are build in a traditional
architecture.
The visitors can explore the whole
Pisilia area with visits to ancient
monasteries and churches seeing real
Cyprus village life, exploring the
interesting nature trails, tasting
also the traditional Cyprus dishes.

MOUNTAIN RESORTS
For those think of Cyprus in terms
of a coastal holiday, the Troodos
Mountain Range comes as a great
surprise. Known as the great Wonder
of Cyprus, Troodos consists of a
series of peaks that start at villages
of Panagia and Pomos, in the Pafos
district in the west, and strecth
all the way to Stravrovouni, near
larnaka, in the East.
This enormous area of outstanding
natural beauty is fabulously rich
in both flora and fauna, and also
the beautiful Forest of Lemesos.

There's also plenty to see and do
in the Troodos, and, indeed, nine
Byzantine churches in the mountains
are included in the official UNESCO
World heritage list. These are: Stavros
tou Agiasmati, Panagia tou Araka,
Timiou Stavrou at Pelendri, Agois
Nikolaos tis Stegis, Panagia Podithou,
Panagia tis Asinou, Agois Ioannis
Lampbadistis, Panagia tou Moutoulla
and Archangelos Michail at Pedoulas.

TROODOS
Troodos National Forest Park is at
the centre of the island and covers
an area of 9337 hectares. The highest
point is Chionistra of Olympos (1952m)
and the lowest is Moni Forest (700m).
the area is magical and suitable for
a variety of activities such as hiking,
skiing, mountain cycling, nature study
and picnics.

Many take picnics to eat near cooling
waterfalls or at special dedicated
sites; and everyone enjoys strolling
through villages of immeasurable charm,
observing the unhurried pace of Cypriot
countr life. All the villagers are
friendly and hospitable, and each
area has a special corp, craft or
product for which it is known - fruits
such as cherries, apples or peaches,
sweet specialities like soujouko and
palouze, wines, zivania, rosewater,
pottery...the list is endless.
