Profile (compiled by Governor)
Name:
Polly Page. (We've given her the middle name "Louise" until we know what it is for sure)Date of Birth:
August 15, 1972. (Unconfirmed but widely accepted)Hair Colour:
Blonde. Whether it is natural or out of a bottle is unknown but we suspect the latter.Eye Colour:
A lovely deep, rich blue. Your knees turn to jelly and your mind starts to wander whenever you look into those lovely eyes.Height:
This girl is tall! She's at least five foot eight or I'm a midget.Favourite Drink:
Vodka and Orange. She has also been spotted enjoying lemon-flavoured soft drink on a number of occasions. Polly has been known to enjoy a cup of white tea, as well as coffee, but the number of teaspoons of sugar that she takes remains a mystery.Injuries:
She's been assaulted seriously enough to draw blood four times that I know of. Also, she was punched in the eye and was almost blinded when she rushed to Mike Jarvis' assistance in "Butting In" (1996).Smoking:
She has mentioned smoking as a teenager on two occasions but she doesn't carry a cigarette lighter around so it's a pretty safe bet that she is a non-smoker.Family Situation:
We can assume that both her parents are alive, happily married and living together. She has mentioned both her mother and her father before (Though we tended to ignore that for fanficcing purposes) as well as a sister, a younger brother and an ickle niece with a fondness for hamsters.Distinguishing Features:
A rather painful-looking scar on the right-hand side of her face.Specialities:
She has been 'specially trained to deal with rape cases and her naturally compassionate nature makes her ideal for the role of "chaperone".History:
She completed high school with average grades then went into the police service - She didn't go to university. She seems to have grown up in the Bermondsey area of South London.Favourite Celebrities:
She fancies Mel Gibson but she seriously dislikes Arnold Schwartzenegger.Other:
She was a great hockey player at high school, playing in the centre-forward position. She even reached the London finals! Polly has "luminous" skin so she doesn't need to wear much make-up. She joined A relief near the end of her probation period, transferring across from B relief. She is familiar with Sun Hill's ground. An extract from "The Bill: The First 10 Years" by Hilary Kingsley (1994)
Coppers don't come more caring or more conscientious than Polly Page. The tall twenty-two year old from Bermondsey wants to clean up this town - Her town. Not for her is a placement in a posher suburb. She's just concerned to do the job and support her Sun Hill mates.
Bright and brave, her keenness means that she sometimes takes risks, dives in and gets herself hurt. But she's not gung-ho like some of the blokes, and when Cato once suggested that she was trying to prove that she could be tough like them she snapped back. There had been staff cut-backs, she pointed out. It was nothing to do with her being female.
Soft-hearted - perhaps too soft-hearted - Polly wants to be a good cop, wants to be sure that experienced men like Stamp don't think, when paired with her, that they're being burdened.
In the two years she has been at Sun Hill, she need never have worried. When Polly's on a case, it's the guilty who should worry.
She lives at home with her parents and her younger brother. Make-up? Dresses? Boyfriends? What does this cockney kid care about besides her job? Nuffink.
An extract from "The Bill: The Inside Story" by Rachel Silver (1999)
Sun Hill's chirpy blonde cockney policewoman, the kind but tough PC Polly Page, is played by Bermondsey-based actress Lisa Geoghan.
'Polly is much tougher than me,' says Geoghan. 'She's not scared of anything, whereas I would run a mile if I encountered any trouble whatsoever. I'd also find myself taking every sad case home with me!'
Bill writers say of Page that she is 'Gutsy, sharp, with a keen South London humour, Page has few illusions about the job and is eager for experience in all its aspects.'
'Page joined the police because she believes she can make a difference, even it is means being punched in the face,' explains Geoghan. The policewoman's dedication is unswerving. A Londoner through and through she has set her sights on tackling the low-life of the metropolis, and not on migrating to more parochial climes.
PC Page's life revolves completely around her job, which she sees as far more important than any boyfriend.
'My only regret for her is that she never has any decent men in her life and there is no sign of a lasting romance coming her way,' confides Geoghan.
Page's last failed romance, in a 1998 three-parter called "Tainted Love", was with someone who turned out to be a con-man.
