particular characteristics about this route are the really tall grass that
literally slows everyone down, the river that runs through the middle of
it, and the high chance of rain. It is because of this last feature that
the weather institute was established here.

The Weather Institute is an important stop for the tired traveler.
In it is a bed for visitors to rest.
At this institute, a group of researchers investigates the
weather. |

| They have discovered / created a pokémon that can control the
weather. It knows moves like Sunny Day, Rain Dance, and Hail. This pokémon
is called Castform and its form changes depending on the weather. |

Team Aqua and
Team Magma wanted to use Castform for their own
purposes, and at one time took control over the Weather Institute and
its workers.
However, their plans were thwarted when a trainer defeated them;
saving the Weather Institute with all the people in it. |

When Professor Birch's child explored this route they crashed into
the trainer from Littleroot Town. Of
course, they were so excited to meet each other that they engaged each other
in battle. Afterwards, Birch's child gave this trainer the HM Fly in
appreciation and explained that this HM allows trainers to re-visit
any city or town, but the Gym badge from Fortree
City is needed to be able to use it outside of battle. |
