Shocking Experience

Nathan and Jake were in detention for doing stupid stuff. So it shouldn't of been a surprise to anyone (and it really wasn't) when the teacher left to run an errand and Nathan pulled out a paper clip and dared his friend to stick it in the socket. "C'mon man," Nathan said. "It'll be cool." Jake didn't need anymore convincing than that. He unfolded the paperclip and shoved it into the nearest electrical socket. There were was a great explosion and sparks caught the carpet on fire. They died. Just kidding. Actually, Jake needed a little more convincing than 'It'll be cool', because when he was actually in front of the socket in question, logic beat out impulse. "What if something bad happens?" he asked. "Like a fire or...if I die?" "Don't be a sissy," Nathan said. "It'll be cool." Jake wasn't a sissy. So he did it. There were no sparks or anything, but it hurt like hell. He could barely pull the paper clip out of the socket. But he didn't let any of it show, he just smiled. "You're turn," Jake said. "It is cool." Nathan didn't actually expect him to go through with it. But it didn't seem to hurt him or anything. Maybe it would be cool. He jammed the paper clip into the socket and this time there really were a few sparks. Nothing major, but enough to give both of them a scare. |
