COLOR BLIND WORLD

If Justice is blind, then why not we?
What of a world with nothing to see?

Think of a world where no one has sight,
Not knowing whether it is day or night.

No one could see who or what we are,
What race or creed, or wearing Davids Star.

We would all be the same in darkness or light
Never seeing who is black or white.

Maybe not so bad for White, Black, or Jew
A way for peace so long overdue?

But what a dull and boring world this would be,
With no beautiful colors for all to see....

Flowers and trees, birds and butterflies,
Stars and rainbows draped in the skies.

So beautiful are people, Black, Yellow, Red or Brown
And it takes us all to make the world go round.
My Life is Short

My life began on the short end of the stick-
I'm the runt of the family, the little short trick.
I was so short that a drawer was my bed,
And hand-me-downs were my fashion dread.
I was called shorty, shrimp, and yes, little smurf;
It seems I was plagued with short from birth.
I was always too little to do this or that,
So no wonder I became a rebellious brat.
And to what do I owe my short stature trait?
To my dear mother's words which sealed my fate.
One day while sitting upon her knee
With a smile and a kiss she said to me,
"Honey I wish you would stay little and small",
And so to this day I'm under 5 feet tall!
This poem was written as an entry into a country song contest on the radio.  I actually won free tickets to the annual "Chili Cookoff"!
