| The Sweetest Sound A mother in pain, she listens for the sound of her newborn child to reach her ears Nothing else matters, her heart skips a beat as she strains to hear her baby's tears. It seemed to her the birds stopped singing, and the Angels must have sighed, For no other sound could be as sweet as when her baby first cried. As the precious child is layed in her arms she cries tears of relief and joy for the waiting is over, the mystery is solved, she has a healthy baby boy. The father is so proud, grandparents too; everyone's emotions are awhirl, as they too have waited to hear the sound of his entrance into the world. The sound of music soothes the soul and birds' song fill the skies but no other sound could be as sweet as when a newborn baby cries. |

| I wrote this poem after my first grandson was born. I made it into a greeting card later. |
